So, to sum up-
10. The fairy tail like story is not set in a specific time, just like almost all fairy tales ever written.
9. The reused props from other movies and thats bad for some reason? Do you also ruin peoples favourite snacks by revealing the horrible truth that the packaging is made of recycled materials?
8. The movie with rodents of unusual size makes a few things up. Do you not understand how fairy tales work?
7. It wasnt instantly popular so I should stop liking it now.
6. One of the actors didnt like working on the movie. Harrison Ford was critical of the original Star Wars trilogy but thats still popular.
5. It almost didnt get made. The implication being that I should be sad it was made rather than happy it did.
4. A different actor almost played one of the characters.
3. They used a stunt double to protect their actor. You know thats a good thing, right?
2. They changed the ending to a more heartfelt one.
1. People got hurt. This is the only actually sad thing on your list. However, they were all accidents rather than unsafe conditions.
Oh no! Im a heartless monster because my childhood isnt ruined!

If you listen to the book As You Wish, written and narrated by Carey himself, you'll learn even more fun facts! Like the fact that during Miracle Max, Andre ripped like a 7 second fart that made it impossible for anyone to finish the scene because of the laughter, and Carey actually had a dummy of himself in most of the shots while he was out belly laughing with Rob Reiner! Or when Carey broke his toe and many shots where he looks like he is skipping or galloping is actually him limping and trying to run. And the improved joked they could NOT use in the Miracle Max scene but took down the house, like Sorry I'm having a bad day today, last night I caught my nephew with a sheep.

I was (I'm very proud to say) one of the first to see this in theaters (I went on opening day) and from the first viewing it has always been a favorite. I knew some of this but one fact that was missed is that much of the reason it didn't well when originally released was publicity problems. When it was released they didn't know how to advertise it, was it a comedy, romance, adventure, fantasy or something else as a result the advertising wasn't as effective as it could have been and thus the box office suffered.

Why would any of these things that I already knew about one of my favorite movies ruin anything? Was it supposed to be ruined because one of the cast never watched the movie or because they used a prop (which I hear happens in movies sometimes) in the movie? All this list was was some behind the scene trivia that really has nothing to do with the final film. Could you please stop naming videos like this? Kind of misleading.

I love this movie. But I don't like the fact that the albino is a villain. It's a recurring stereotype in films and books.
I had a cousin who had albinism and she often had people who were afraid of her because of the way she looked. She said it was sometimes because of people's perception of people with albinism. She died a few years ago of breast cancer at the age of 40.

I know a lot of people like the movie and it was a favorite and it is considered a classic. But personally, I just can't agree at all. There are so many things it gets wrong or just portrays really badly from the book. To be honest, I kinda hated the movie, but everyone has their own opinion. I am not trying to be rude or say you are wrong, just stating my opinion.

These facts about _The Princess Bride_ are actually interesting and informative, and sometimes shocking. But it will not ruin _my_ childhood, because I didn't watch it until _much_ later. Also, I saw a WatchMojo video called _Top 10 On-Screen Injuries That Made It Into the Movie, _ as well as one called _Top 20 Actor Injuries You ACTUALLY See. _

3: 00 When you are walking back from the shops and think of the Iocane powder scene, as well as the Emperor who drank poison to become immune, then when captured. He tried to take his life by poison and failed.
And then hours later, a friend shares this video with you.

I kind of already knew most of this stuff, thanks to the internet AND the aforementioned books.
But hey, even though the movie didn't become a box office hit at the time; it got popular with age. Now, it's become a rather popular movie by people; me included

One of the issues why the movie didn't make much money at first is that the studio didn't know how to market it. Is it a romance, an adventure, a comedy or what? They went with the framing story, grandfather reading to grandson, and marketed it as s kid's movie.
reply

Number 10 is quite literally just known by anyone who has ever read the book. It's a literary technique called anachronism, meaning that the author scatters a lot of different references to different time periods to intentionally keep the time period vague.
reply

Time it is set in? Easy: the Middle Ages. The reference to Australia was a breach of continuity by the author of the book. We must not forget that the grandfather is reading a fiction book here. As such, I like to think that any confusion lies in human error.
reply

Ah yes, Real World inaccuracies. Something that's supposedly a sure fire way to ruin a movie that's got fire jets in a swamp, a life sucking machine, and brings a man back from death with a chocolate coated medicine ball.
reply

The saddest thing about this list that wasnt included is: How Rob Reiner treated Liam Neeson when Liam went in for his audition. Suffice to say Liam may use his special skills on Meathead one day.

This movie was already ruined for me by immature 8th graders. They were grossed out by the kissing when we watched this, and now I cringe at the part where Westley interrupts Buttercup in her room.
reply

These are not horrible in any way. Theyre just facts, some of which are interesting, the others that arent. Also, it is a fictional story in a fictional movie, so of course iocane powder is fictional.
reply

You mean to tell me that in a fictional movie, based in a fictional land with fictional characters that Iocain Powder is also fictional? My childhood is now ruined!
reply

There is nothing you could ever tell me to dissuade me of my love of this movie, I still know every word by heart and it drives my husband insane when I watch it.
reply

The princess bride was definitely one best live action fairly tale type movie. Rob Reiner who also directed when Harry meet Sally should direct more romance movies
reply

This movie was my childhood and it is still my #1 favorite live action movie. I will always love it for its iconic characters, mesmerizing plot and beautiful movie
reply

You keep saying favorite childhood movie. I don't think that word means what you think it means. because I'm in my mid 50s and this is still my favorite movie!
reply

Ruin? Never. unless it was Never had been made. it is one of the funniest movies ever. and me and my family often quote the movie. alot. lmao. we love this movie

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the scene with the Mandy Patinkin/Inigo Cardboard cut out. I was hoping you'd mention it and why they had to use it.

reply

I'm not surprised by #3. Sadly known about andre pain in recent years being a wrestling fan. Only few more years after release he sadly pass away.
reply

Its a fun story and I've always loved it. Facts don't matter unless it is trying to be. Look at A Knight's Tale? Love them both. don't care. :-)
reply

I kinda hope there's a scene in Yashahime where Towa and Moroha bring Stesuna to Miracle Max and he tells them that she's only mostly dead.
reply

I hate clickbait. Nothing in this makes the movie less interesting. They fictionalized a fictional poison in a fictional movie! The horror!
