Comments and reviews: 29

Looking at the comments just proves what a masterpiece In The Heights is. Every song is someones favorite b/c they really are all excellent and we connect to them for different reasons. My personal top 5 are:
1. In The Heights - one of the best openings to a musical, just brilliantly sets the stage.
2. Carnaval del Barrio - connected me to my roots.
3. Paciencia y Fe - I cried and cried for the ones Ive lost.
4. Breathe - I mirror myself as a kid in Ninas shoes.
5. 96, 000 - again, just brilliant and fun.
Btw, I have not seen the stage musical, but after looking up the remaining songs, Sunrise and Hundreds of Stories need to be in my list. I need to see the musical first to know how/where they fit and do them justice.

Everything I know should be top 10. Its my personal favorite, but its a slow emotional song that makes Claudias death even more impactful. Plus you need an emotional song like that in the musical to move it from good to great because a lot of the songs are super upbeat making it harder to believe that they are having huge problems in the community other than the Blackout. Claudias death isnt as impactful in the movie but it has more impact than Attencion which can be said through dialogue, and Alabanza which is super impactful but has other ways of conveying the same message. I loved the movie but it really needed that song in my opinion.

my top 5 are probably.
1. breathe, i love the riffs and leslies voice
2. 96000, i love the overlapping and everyones dreams!
3. in the heights, a brilliant introduction
4. bennys dispatch, i just love it so much, and bennys voice damn!
5. no me diga, its such a fun song!

Paciencia Y Fe should #1 going away. It's Abuela Claudia's recounting the history of her and her mother coming to America. As good as it was on stage, the movie version is fantastic and in each version Olga Meradiz is astounding. It's an absolute tour de force performance and earned her a Tony nomination.

My top three
1) 96000
2) Alabanza
3) Finale
The fun of 96000, the intense emotions of Alabanza, and the huge emotions of the finale. When Vanessa finds out Usnavi is staying, my heart bursts with happiness.

I never cry at movies, and even though I new it was coming, I burst out in tears at the end of blackout/start of paciencia y Fe and continued to cry through till the end of Alabanza. It was so powerful.

Its so obvious that MsMojo is full of white people. Because a Latino would have ranked Paciencia y Fe and Carnaval del Barrio top 5 easily. Both made my Mexican heart beat so hard

The fact that everything I know is only #21 is a crime. That song makes me cry so much. Such a shame its not in the new movie.
