I must admit Cubbys death nearly made me stop watching the series where the final series was concerned. I understand why it was done given how many we lost at the time who seemed full of life. When I first hit the scene we were short on the elders previous generations had. I was lucky due to my I'll talk to anyone attitude which was not usual for my generation, and that meant I avoided the creepers that were well known at the time but the number of people to warn us younger generation were greatly diminished.

Got my dad to watch this amazing show. It was very much out of his comfort zone but, by the end of episode one, he was hooked. Candy's funeral and Blanca's lipsync in season 2 brought him to tears and Pray's passing, whilst he thought it was handled well and fitting, pissed him off because he'd grown to care for Pray's endeavours.
By episode 2, whilst he is a conservative catholic, he remarked about how much Blanca was already a mother to her kids.

Candy's passing hit me like a train, not just she died in a horrific way but the funeral and the scene of her singing in the ballroom crushed me so much, also the scenes of her vision letting us now much more about her and her relationships with the members of her community were very touching. I loved the fact that when the turn of Blanca with Candy came, they just stayed sitting together humming a song, there was no unfinished business between them two

Regarding #8, Blanca's HIV diagnosis, something that stands out for me in the scene is when Blanca thanks the medical lady who gave her the results of the HIV test. The lady asks for what, and Blanca says, It must be hard telling people they gonna die day after day. In what may be her darkest hour, Blanca is still sympathetic toward and considerate of others. Blanca wasn't just Elektra's heart, she was the heart of Pose.

i love this show! i've never cried so much watching a show, i think.
i also watched defining moments with OZY: dominique jackson and watched HER story. as a follow-up to the show, watching dominique speak from her perspective of things that she faced growing up was what probably made me cry while watching elektra in the final season.

Just watched The Pilot episode last night. Finally.
I never had the experience of being kicked out of my house as a young person for being gay. Watching that scene where he was beat by his father and then have his mother spew her shit out of her mouth made me so angry for the people who actually go through this. Very hard to watch: (

My most heartbreaking for me is not about the death of pray tell or canday, i was sobbing most when blanca was left alone by their children. I realized that at that moment, your children will grow old and will have their own family. The love takes time by mariah carey song will really be different every time i listen to it.

Candys funeral didnt resonate with me. I think they should have had her on longer and given her more scenes first, I felt I didnt know her that well. Same with cubby I barely knew him at all. With more time and screen time, their deaths would have had a larger impact on me. Like when pray tell died.

Seeing Pose in its entirety has made me a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community. It couldn't have come at a better time now that, even after Trump left office, my friends are being attacked from the halls of power as well as the pulpit as discriminatory laws are being passed around the country.

I just started watching this series. It is better late than never. This is just a powerful and honest show. Thank you for mentioning that Ronald Reagan never bothered to mention the word AIDS. He and his Republican administration never cared about LGBTQ Americans.

I flipped my whole coffee table when pray tell allowed himself to die. I was angry, I was crying, talking out loud to the tv! Guuuurrrl cry face even a mother wouldn't love. damn this wonderful show

I dont think I ever cried during the series except for when Blanca screamed when she found out Pray died. And when we found out that he sacrificed himself for Ricky, I cried even harder:

This is best show ever for LGBTQ
Full of emotions that real life based.
Kinda heart breaking too because there are some things in the show that are still happening in present time.

reply

12: 04 the most emotional part of that episode was the discovery of her body by a complete stranger, the cleaner. It is so emotional because that is how many were sadly found.
reply

when Elektra is fighting her mother over the trunk, you could notice that she breaks back into her accent out of emotion. literally the most amazing acting ever dear LORD
reply

I didn't think Angel's break up with Stan was heartbreaking, I thought it was rather empowering because it was through that experience she learned to love herself
reply

Honestly imagine disowning your own child. Like really imagine it. The evil it requires to do something like that is unreal and yet it happens every day.
reply

For me: when Blanca is at the hospital singing Home and she breaks down, Then Pray tell rescues her and you can see the faces of the HIV patients.
reply

I got emotional when Stan and Angel didnt work out. It was definitely for the best because it wouldnt have worked out in the long run.
reply

Nothing makes me laugh and cry like this show. Candys parents at her funeral and then finally accepting her as herself in death just kills me.
reply

#3 kills me every time.
It's the ultimate act of selflessness which makes it that much sadder.
I quiver just by thinking about it.

reply

i love every thing about this series of course we laughed and cried and done alot of thinkig in how we tease cross dressing were all human
reply

To be fair, I snot sobbed almost every episode. I remember back when this was real life. They captured it so well. Season 3 broke my heart.
reply

whoa whoa whoa, what about when Blanca kicks Lil Papi out and you see the panic and fear in him when he is shouting ' I didn't mean it! '
reply

I feel like the most heartbreaking of them all was Pray Tell. He really broke my heart when he passed and I cried like a big ass baby
reply

I think that the number one pick should have been when prey died because that whole scene just really made me ball out of control
reply

I'm so sad that the show me had 3 seasons I really want this show to have more seasons to shusha comeback and have more seasons
reply

Pray Tell WAS Pose and his death and the goodbyes of all the characters never fails to make me cry like a baby!
reply

I just did an entire weekend of binging the entire series, ive never cried over a TV show as much as I have this show
reply

I felt like Stan was a chaser since the first scene. I hoped he would be good for Angel but he was just a creep.
