nearly all of these movies along with swan princess, thumbalina, book of life, maya & the 3, fantastic children, anastasia, lorax, tinkerbell, land before time, onward, jungle book, spirit stallion of the cimarron, joseph king of dreams, the prince of egypt, hunchback of notre dame, brother bear, hercules, sleeping beauty, princess & the goblin, treasure planet, tarzan, balto movies, small foot, ice age, & quest for camelot httyd deserve live action musical remakes. croods, castle in the sky, the princess twins of legendale, animated gargoyles, inuyasha, fox & the hound, yugioh, digimon [particularly spirit evelution], kikky's delivery service, nezha, white snake, abomiable, bilal, dinosaur, the good dinosaur, thundercats, & legend of korra may not be musicales but deserve live action versions. avatar the last airbender has a live action movie but it was very poorly done & deserves a far better live action remake. the poorly done movie changed far too much of the plot. if you are going to do a live action version of a book, tv series, or animated movie/tv series you should make an effort not to change too much of the plot.

Coco is already being turned into a musical (thanks, Disney. All the other choices are fine, but here are my personal, honorable mentions:
Encanto - Come on, the usual suspects are there: catchy songs and great characters. Seriously, this needs to happen already.
Rio - An actually CRIMMINALLY underrated movie. You just need to make the staging more like the Lion King and have a mostly Latinx cast.
Happy Feet - Same with this one. The characters are all penguins, so you should make them more evocative. It's also a jukebox musical.
The Polar Express - Hear me out. This could work more on stage than in terrible motion capture. Just start the process with a holiday engagement, then, if it is successful enough, expand it beyond the time frame. And also add more songs.
And finally:
Coraline - This was almost a movie musical, like Corpse Bride, but we were robbed blind of that opportunity. That being said, I still think that idea has potential. After all, this movie was still great regardless.

Heres my list:
10: trolls and trolls world tour (it would be really cool cause trolls 2 would have like 8 different types of music in the songs)
9: Vivo (there is a lot of great musical numbers in it and they would be great on the stage)
8: encanto (it would be cool but camilo would be hard as a role because youd have to do a lot of costume changes)
7: shrek 2 (idk it would just be really good)
6: frozen 2 (WEVE BEEN WAITING 3 YEARS)
5: coco ( a very emotional musical it would be)
4: Moana (it already has a musical for middle schoolers but i would like a version for senoir performers on broadway)
3: smallfoot (the set designs would look really good)
2: Mulan (why doesnt it have one)
1: sing and sing 2 (the songs in them are phenomenal and also sing 2 is my fvaorite animated movie)

The Tangled tv series has a more Broadway-esque soundtrack than even the most show-tune heavy animated films out of Disney lol. They literally hired 3 heavy-hitters known from infamous Broadway productions for that series' main cast/soundtrack.
Jeremy Jordan (original Broadway cast lead of Newsies and Bonnie & Clyde, James Monroe Iglehart (original Broadway cast Genie for Aladdin) and Eden Espinosa (took over from Idina Menzel as Broadway (and then the tour) lead in Wicked and Rent. Alan Menken finally got an Emmy thanks to Eden belting out Waiting in the Wings in that series. And her duet with Jeremy in the 3rd season was epic!
I hope the Tangled film gets a true live musical adaption of that calibre, some day!

1. YES! Ive BEEN saying that The Road To El Dorado should be adapted for the stage! Unfortunately, the fact that the movie flopped HARD at the box office might prevent that from happening.
2. I also think Mulan and Monsters Inc. would make excellent musicals.
3. The only way I can see Pocahontas working as a stage musical is if Disney does what they did with the Hunchback musical, staying 100% true to the original source material (in this case, the actual historical events. Even then, it might still be too controversial to even attempt to bring it to the stage.

Yes to all of them! If Moana and Tangled come to Broadway, I like to audition for the roles of Rapunzel and Moana! I too, have been thinking that Coco should get a stage musical. I can see Miguel sing a song similar to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Part of Your World in which he dreams of a place where he can play music and everybody would enjoy listening to him instead of shutting him down. I also pictured Hector and Imelda sing a duet similar to SOS in which they lament on the loss of thier romance.

CATS DONT DANCE would be the new CATS musical on stage, even with narrative that can make things better compared to what happened narratively to the stage and visually the movie version, other WB feature animation group classics, honorably speaking, like Quest for Camelot and Smallfoot deserve an updated musical stage adaptation since both films offered solid concepts/messages and quite highlighting soundtracks, no?

I think Hairspray was a great musical, but the finale wasn't worthy of #1 over Greatest Showman (in my opinion. The Greatest Showman finale always gives me chills and I cant get the song out of my head for days. Though both movies have similar messages about inclusion of everyone no matter who they are, where they come from and what they look like. Again, just my personal opinion.

Moana, Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Coco all look like the most worthy of becoming new musicals. Once we have fully conquered and recovered from the virus, I hope one or more of these choices will become reality. If anyone asks me on which one to choose, I would choose The Nightmare Before Christmas.

You know, since you included non-musicals like Emperors New Groove on this list, may I also say that Zootopia might be a cool film to adapt into Broadway as well. Anyway, I definitely agree with this list, especially when it comes to films like Princess & The Frog, and Tangled. Anyway, thank you for making this list!

Maybe when Ratatouille, Brave, Inside Out, Soul, Moana, Tangled, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Road to El Dorado, Shrek 2, The Aristocats, and Coco get real life Broadway musical adaptations, then their unproduced sequels will go back into production, right?

I would be surprised if Emperor's New Groove, El Dorado, Coco and Tangled work. But i would love to see Moana and Cats Don't Dance brought to life too. Along with Smallfoot, Thumbelina, Pebble and the Penguin, Brother Bear, Toy Story and Polar Express

I think that The Swan Princess, Thumbelina, and Quest for Camelot should've been on this list, especially The Swan Princess. Thumbelina and Quest for Camelot have A LOT of room for improvement that a stage musical would be able to help with.

New Groove never really caught on big time like Frozen. Just not a very compelling story.
Likewise with Pocahontas -- The Colors Of The Wind is probably the only memorable song in that film about Indigenous exploitation.

An emperors new groove musical would be a GREAT opportunity to revive the script for kingdom of the sun & show us what it would have been like if they didn't rewrite the movie.

The Swan Princess could make a great Broadway musical if they fix some of the plot holes and make it a little more serious at times (meaning No Jean Bob, Speed, or Puffin)

I think Disneys Hercules needs to be adapted for Broadway. The gospel numbers would sound amazing on a stage. They could also give Hades an epic musical number.

I don't think many people would agree that Shrek 2 should have a musical adaptation, especially after the first Shrek musical didn't do so good.

I watched Coco for the first time today so when I started watching this list Coco was fresh in my mind. It would make a brilliant stage musical.
