I had a tragic childhood and past, I went through mental health, I suffer from anxiety and depression, I have Autism and never told anybody that I have it and I don't understand some things and say things I'm not supposed to say, I had trouble controlling my emotions, I was really aggressive, got bullied and teased a lot, girls were mean to me when I was a little kid that cause me to hate myself, people, love and being afraid to give love a chance and I been single for a long time with no love experience cause I have reasons, I had trouble listening and don't listen sometimes, being ignored, mistreated, disrespected, have trust issues, became a jerk to everybody, did horrible things, have a messed up reputation, doesn't get along with society and act like nobody cares about me.
Middle School - I got bullied and teased a lot that caused me to be a bully and jerk to everybody, I once said I will shoot everyone in middle school, it did not go well, I almost got suspended, but did not, it's that moment that I realized I have autism.
High School - I also got bullied and teased a lot that caused me to be a bully and jerk to everybody, I got hospitalized for the first time and then twice in my final year in high school after I snapped and bite a student's arm and got arrested by the police in May 2018, then I said I want to commit suicide and got taken to the ambulance, away from my high school, that's the last they seen of me. It's at that moment that I realized I have a mental health disability.
I'm so relatable and sympathetic when I act out because I have Autism, was depressed or sad because everyone seems to be doing better than me and nobody seems to care. I know what it's like to have pain, I wish I had my chance with that really smoking hot, Latina girl with black hair back in my final year in high school, but I didn't cause I did something horrible in the end and she doesn't even think about me or know I have Autism, that I don't understand love, or even experience it cause I been single for a long time with no love experience. I knew relationships don't work out since I was 9 years old because I watch a bunch of Novelas based on them and I have other reasons to remain single for a long time. Nowadays I don't care anymore and gave up on love, everything, and everybody, I will worry about myself and trust nobody, have nobody, and be forever isolated and alone in the dark.

I feel like Jeremy and Elena should be together because they have the same backstory. Also, Katerina had the worst backstory. Love her or hate her but what happened to her ( backstory wise) was worse than all the other characters. She was a teen mom and had her daughter taken away seconds after giving birth and wasnt even able to hold her despite how much she begged for her. She spent years afterwards searching for her daughter and couldnt find her. She was also disowned by her father for having her baby. Its terrible but she still loved her family. She met the Mikaelsons and was happy for a while before she found out that she was going to be ritually sacrificed so she killed her self and became a vampire and returned home. She then found out her family had been slaughtered by Klaus in revenge for her running away. She blamed her self. She may have had issues with her dad but she had a lot of siblings and she adored her mom. She then had to spend 500 years running from Klaus.

I feel like Brooke Davis deserves to be on this list because while Peyton suffered through losing parents through death, Brooke suffered from losing her parents due to neglect and abandonment which is just as bad, if not worse. And even though Victoria later redeems herself, Brooke still gets heartbroken by her father who just doesn't care about her. Nathan also deserves to be on this list for a similar reason but not because of losing a parent, but because of being the outcome of an overbearing, toxic father who later takes his uncle from him. And even further you could also add Dan Scott to this list because he's an example of a man who goes too far for selfish gains and later regrets it and finds little to no redemption until the very end which most would argue isn't even a true redemption because he can't be redeemed.

In one of these lists, we NEED to include Doctor Shaun Murphy from The Good Doctor; he was abused by his alcoholic dad, his mum didn't protect him and he was bullied at school a lot, all because he's autistic. He then lost his younger brother, Steve, who fell while they were playing and was in and out of foster homes until he was taken in by Doctor Glassman, who is his dad. Need I mention that Lea (who would soon become his girlfriend and eventual wife) didn't want to be with him at first and he's been subjected to a lot at the hospital, also because of his autism? (Including being somewhat hated by the people who truly are his parents because he wanted to help them but cut down their careers as surgeons)

Gotta say, since you added Veronica Mars, Logan Echolls at the very least deserved a mention. He was brutally abused by his father for years and no one ever stopped it, (even those who were aware of it) right up until his dad went to jail, his mother also killed herself and left him to deal with the abuse alone, his girlfriend was murdered, by his father because she'd been cheating on him with his father. He gets accused of a crime he didn't commit and is almost beaten to death for it on the same night he's considering ending his life the same way his mother did.

I think Logan Echolls (Veronica Mars) easily has one of the saddest backstories in teen dramas. Even if you only restrict to things that happen before the show starts, he has an abusive father, a mother who couldnt protect him, and his girlfriend was murdered. Once you add the events and reveals of season one, and the rest of the show, it is really hard to argue that he isnt one of the most tragic characters in tv, not just teen dramas.

Ok what about Derek Hale from Teen Wolf? Has to kill his 1st love Paige to lessen her suffering. He is groomed and molested by a teacher who is only using him to get to his family. All but his sister are burned alive except for an uncle with severe burns in a coma. And said uncle when he wakes up kills said sister. AND then has to kill the uncle so that he longer goes around on a killing spree.

And what about Caleb from pretty little liars he was homeless when they first introduced to the show is dad left him or mum with his grandma and then he had to find out where they were and was moved around foster care homes when he was young and yes he did eventually get his life together but still its quite sad.

Wow I didn't expect my favorite charecter to be number 1 but I did definitely want him on the list and was afraid he wouldn't be after seeing number 9. Honestly I agree completely. Except as mucn as I love Elena I feel like Hope suffered more than her and also deserves a spot on this list.
