I would pick strictly every single time over dancing with the stars, its about the journey not the story, DWS always has some weepy story and over zealous contestants, but the biggest turn off are the dancers on DWS and the awful judges. Its a dance competition not a dating show. The best dancers on DWS don't get showcased properly you have a winner more or less picked out a complete novelty act that will stay in for a few weeks and shock horror they get voted out. One of the best results on DWS was when Bobby Bones won with Sharna, was he a fabulous dancer no but what he brought was humanity into the show, he isn't a doll he is a human being who tried his best and it showed. Carrie is an awful judge and since the sacking of Erin and Tom and replaced with TYRA I am the star of the show, I stopped watching.
Strictly on the other hand is a family staple in Britain the dancers are lovely their not up their own ass their not flogging something, and are really nice people.
STRICTLY WINS its class not trash. Fat to much blowing smoke up Derek's ass. Julianne another one whose ego is so big.

1. Strictly Come Dancing is much more loyal to the ballroom and Latin dancing culture than the US version. Contestants also usually stick more closely to the guidelines and rules of the ballroom and Latin styles more than with the US versions dances.
2. Themed weeks are used as a milestones in the U. K, theyre not used as a mechanism to maintain fan attention. US theme nights really try hard to make songs work for routines when they really dont.
3. The dance off allows for contestants to amend their mistakes.
4. The contestants are going to be more known in the US to US audiences, same with Strictly. It is unfair to pit the shows together like this since as a Brit, a barely know anyone on DWTS whilst an American will be unlikely to know anyone on Strictly.
5. Strictly is also an event in the U. K. Every year, the country is invested every Autumn with every night having a strictly based programme on the television. Its an event. In the US, its simply forgotten about until the episode airs.

There's several issues I have with DWTS, #1 the judges who sold out to this version when it was the original that made them household names for money. #2 the celebs are expected to be good from the get go, to the point they have professional dancers take part, which isn't fair to those who've never danced before, and they've won. In the UK it's happened a few times, or they've been what I call drama school brats, they may not do it for a living but they've had experience of dancing and how to learn a routine, but the difference is, is that while we admire their skill, our sense of fairness means that they never won a show even though the judges praise them to the hilt. The original format in the UK was to take a celeb who can't dance and get a professional to teach them and for DWTS it's all about excellence and showmanship, and while Strictly is going the same way, it's not as bad YET!

I really loved Dancing with the Stars during its first six seasons, but season 7 was the start of the end for me and I stopped watching after season 9. Maybe I'm just very conservative, but I didn't like how they were starting to stray from the traditional ballroom and Latin dances. I didn't like how every week now had to have a certain theme, and I especially don't like how they've added backup dancers in recent years, which distracts us from the couple we're supposed to focus. Now it's all flash, no substance. If the series ever goes back to its roots, maybe then I'll start watching again.

I'm from the UK and have been obsessed both shows from the beginning. Personally I think the dances overall; choreography, music, dancing level of the celebrities, pros etc. is better on DWTS. I also think the production, make up and costumes are better on DWTS
But I think Strictly focuses more on the couples and the technique of the dances. It has more of an emotional connection to the audience that brings the British nation together
Ultimately I think it's a matter of preference; both shows cater for their audience
DWTS wins for me but I don't necessarily think I'd say it's better

Please. Picking DWTS by these categories only show how poorly done this video is. Strictly has far better production, set design, costumes, an actual band that can play absolutely anything! Also, online presence, extra material, another show to comment on the main show (It Takes Two.
This year DWTS had Mel C, but this is the only celebrity it had, as far as I know. The rest were washed up reality personalities. Strictly has TV presenters, journalists, comedians, para-athletes, musicians.
You got it all wrong.

Strictly Come Dancing is a million times better especially after the Dancing with the Stars has Tyra. They leave no time for anything extra and her as a host is terrible. When I watch Strictly I equivalent it to quality. Dancing with the stars is cheesy, rushed, and the dancing isn't even on the same level as Strictly. And Craig. he is the only judge who isn't scared to tell the truth even if it does hurt. That feels a million times more genuine.
reply

Strictly is better in my opinion because of the quality of dance and production. With DWTS, it's begun to feel more about showmanship rather than technique, especially with inflated scores. That's why I appreciate Craig so much, he only gives out 10s for perfection. Think about it, Samba has only gotten a perfect 40 once on Strictly because they care about technique and quality of dance. DWTS has strayed away from that as time has gone on.
reply

This video really doesnt do strictly enough credit. Strictly have been doing most dance styles since its beginning including salsa etc and only introduced contemporary jazz and street recently. But we've had lindyhopathons and more for many years. I also think that having three set themes is better because having too many themes in a season I think makes the concept really stale and makes you focus more on the song than the dance itself.

Okay people. This is weird. Just this morning, just this morning ( it's evening now where I am, I spent over an hour googling about the differences between strictly and dwts us version, and which of the 2 is better. And then msmojo released a video a few hours later exactly about that. So weird
Edit: I love strictly more

I stopped watching DWTS for many reasons related to the quality of dancing, and the relatively recent change of DWTS host cemented my decision. Until recently, SCD has been much more professional; however, these days I see some worrying changes that seem to be undermining professionalism and killing ballroom dancing.
reply

I definitely choose strictly come dancing, if only because of the cooler choreographies and live music. Maybe you will do the episode strictly come dancing vs dancing with the stars (Poland) or entirely devoted to the Polish edition, I would like to know the opinions of foreigners on this topic.
reply

the judges in the UK are better, Craig and Shirley are the strict ones, and the voting system is better. the dance off in SCD demonstrates who is a better dancer, while in DWTS great couples are eliminated because of favouristism, example Juan Pablo di Pace, Simone biles, Melanie C
reply

Are you serious? SCD is the far superior show with better pros, dancing, hosting and overall production, have you seen those Pro group dances? Mesmerizing. DWTS is crap and spends all the money on the hosts wardrobe and paying c-listers who dont put in any effort
reply

Most importantly! Who has the better pros! U can say that the men are pretty much equal but the ladies in Strictly are by far better and more attractive than DWTS. In addition, Strictly is a much better production but the most important thing is the quality of the pros!
reply

I think the theme weeks on DWTS are rather abused to the point where they are no longer special and it hampers the chance for us to see a regular, traditional dances. It also creates some very awkward performances with some song/dance style pairings.
reply

The bias on this video its outstanding. to say that DWTS its better than Strictly its such a joke of a statement than how can anyone take it seriously? Strictly its better by a long shot and theres not doubt about it
reply

I like Derek and the deaf man, and we lost Artem to DWTS as well, but I've watched Strictly more and the dances average two minutes to Dancing's one minute dances.
So all in all right now it's Strictly.

reply

I think Strictly is more about technique and how good a couple dances together whereas dwts is all about the entertainment factor and fun and it's just a bonus if the dances are actually good.
reply

Strictly is way better this video was made to make dwts seem better - of course dwts have more famous people because America is huge compared to the uk and more well know celebrities live there.
reply

I think the scores are more honest and the dance quality is better on Strictly. The costumes seem waaaay better on DWTS in my opinion. For me, costumes on Strictly often seem a little cheap
reply

How can you compare the two greatest dance shows ever? While DWTS is more entertainment and Strictly is more dance and technique they both opened the world of dance to EVERYONE.
reply

I use to love dwts but it has gone to hell. Adding Tyra Banks was a huge mistake. Then there's the judges, their behavior this season was horrible especially Carrie Ann's!
reply

Dancing is dancing. Why does there have to be a lot of themes? great choreography with a story and partnership should hold the audience. No cheap thrills just the real deal
reply

I can't believe you didn't compare the music! A live band and singers for every song or pre-recorded studio tracks? It's got to be live music every time.
reply

Strictly is far the best in every way, I also think Australia dancing with the stars was much better than the American one.
reply

You should do Nash Bridges TV show verses the movie, and other Nash Bridges or Miami Vice videos. That would be cool.
reply

Strictly is miles better, the show focusses more on the dancing and the calibre is soo good. DWTS pales in comparison

reply

Strictly is better. Everything is done in a much more skilled manner. DWTS has become boring and repetitive.
