The 21st century has been a golden age for voice acting. For this list, well be looking at the best acting performances of the vocal variety from film and TV that debuted in or after the year 2000. Our countdown includes Ratatouille, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Shrek, and more! What do YOU think is the best voice acting performance on the century?

HOW could you leave off Samuel Witwers performance as Darth Maul on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels? That performance hit every note - every feature of Mauls character - the anger, the fear, the scheming, the allure, the calculating, the sadness, the madness, the manipulation, the hated, the rage, the dark serenity, the vulnerability - he nailed it all. It was like a vocal equivalent of Daniel Day-Lewiss performance as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood. And I will stand by that until I die!

Sadly not a ton of variety on this list. That aside I agree with some of these but there are professional VAs that deserved to have these spots. I do agree with #1 tho. And I respect everyone on here but wish we had more pro VAs here. Like Dee Bradley Baker should have been the MVP highlighted cuz he voiced literally all the creatures in Avatar. I definitely need to make my own list to highlight VAs that need more love

No, I do not agree: at least not in full;
The number 1 spot should have gone to Andy Serkis for Gollom/Smeagol in the lord of the rings/Hobbit franchise.
He captured a character of profound depth and complexity, being able to display 2 distinct personalities in what sounds as the same voice, but being able to differentiate the two with perfect subtleties: hands down the greatest voice performance of the new century.

4. Jack Black as Po (Kung Fu Panda)
5. Akwafina as Sisu (Raya and the Last Dragon

How could you leave off Terri Hatcher from Coraline? The entire voice cast was amazing, but Hatcher had to play the regular mother, the nice version of the Other Mother and the evil, true version of the Other Mother and her performance was amazing! The subtleties and nuances between each version of the character were so well done an made her characters unique and the Other Mother terrifying.

Samuel L. Jackson is a perfect voice actor for Frozone and he is one of my favorite characters from the Incredibles movies. And he likes to chill out with the Parr family sometimes. I love that hero and I always will. I have the Blue-Ray of The Incredibles 2 movie in my DVD collection. That was my first Blue-Ray DVD. Sabrina Griffin

Uuuuuuuuuuuh. Andy Serkis as Gollum?
I'm gonna give you a very VERY thin benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't included because he did the mo-cap as well. But seriously, he is one of the best performances of all time, let alone a voice work

reply

I think the most underrated voice roles that tie go to Michael J. Fox and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Milo Thatch of Atlantis and Jim Hawkins of Treasure Planet respectively.
They were wicked roles in non-musical Disney animated films!

My 2 favourite characters in the Hunchback of Notre Dame were Jennifer Love-Hewitt as both the voice and singing voice of Quasimodo's lover Madeleine and Hayley Joel Osment as Quasimodo's friend Esmerelda's son Zephyr.

Wendie Malick as Eda in The Owl House. She's funny, Eda's anguish over her curse comes through in the acting, and her emotional speech to Luz at the end of season 1 convinced me to change my pfp.

Okay, but what about Brenda Strong ad Mary Alice Young on Desperate Housewives? Or does narration not count for this list? Either way, her voice on that show was PHENOMENAL
reply

If this was including films and TV shows from earlier than the 2000s on one of the best and most accurate portrayals of me would be on here. RIP Kevin Conroy as Batman.
reply

Josh Gad is adorable as Olaf, and Gastons sidekick in the live action Beauty And The Beast. I just cant wrap my head around him being in a series about a werewolf.

I'm glad people are catching on that Atlantis The Lost Empire and Emperor's New Groove are jems. I've loved them since seeing them as a kid in theaters

reply

Again, you left H. Jon Benjamins Atcher off these lists. Are people deaf or something. His voice is more than deserving to be on them.
reply

The fact that Robin Williams as the Genie isn't on here, tells me the person who created this list has no idea what they're doing. =(
reply

Might have to agree with Eartha Kitt as Yzma, but I'm STILL quoting lines from Warburton's Kronk some 20 years later, lol
reply

Maybe have separate vids for celebrities who did voice acting and actual voice actors, because believe me there is a difference
reply

They did Vin Diesel dirty there. No one can play Groot best than Vin Diesel himself. The dedication is worth even an oscar.
reply

Seven months later, I think we ought to swap out Oswalt's role as Remy with his role as Matthew (The Sandman.
reply

Samuel's character Frozone looks actually a lot Like him.
Will Arnett and Amy Poehler are a real-life couple.

How is it Ginnifer Goodwin or even Jason Bateman isnt on a top 10-20 list of best performance as Nick and Judy?
