Top 10 Mesmerizing Couples Figure Skating Routines As everyone said, Torvill and Deans Bolero absence is glaring, that dance changed Ice Dance forever. Aside from that Romeo and Juliet isnt Anissina and Peizeirats best IMO, I find Carnina Burana more iconic. I like Tessa and Scotts Carmen (I adore Tessa in that role) as well as all their Vancouver programs better than Moulin Rouge, which I find overrated and was outscored by P/Cs Moonlight Sonata anyway. Speaking of which. if youre gonna include the Shibsibs with Fix You not even mentioning a single program from Papadakis and Cizeron is ridicuous. At least include To Built A Home, which was incredibly memorable, beat the ShibSibs Fix You at world and had TBHAH pretty much becoming a war horse in figure skating following that performance.
Also, what with mixing Ice dance with Pair as if it was the same discipline? Making two separate lists would have been better\r\n

Underhill and Martini's programs: Unchained Melody and When a Man Loves a Woman.
Isabelle Brasseur and Lloyd Eisler 1994 Olympics and World's competitions since Isabelle had a fractured rib(s) since before Canadian Nationals and by World's she had re-injured it (if I remember correctly. Though most of their exhibition and professional programs are memorable as well.
Christine Hough and Doug Ladret's 1992 short program but many of their professional programs.
Shae-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz's Riverdance routine.
Natalia and Artur 1992 pairs Gold medalists long program.
1992 ice dance Gold medalists long program.
Torvill and Dean's Bolero!

1. Torvill and Dean;
2. Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao (you had them at # 8) That 2003 ) World championship gold program was magic. Audience was screaming for most of the second half of that long program.
3. Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov (double Olympic gold medalists) - One of their 4 Olympic programs was really special. Can't remember which unless I go back and watch.
If you ever do this with the Men, please don't leave out Alexei Yagudin (his Olympic gold short program); I wonder at times how some of these exceptional programs come about.
And, of course, Kurt Browning, simply special in a number of programs.

Before I watched the video, I said, if Ekaterena and Sergei arent on this list, Im never watching MsMojo again. They truly are one of my all time favorites and I still get sad not seeing Sergei when Ekaterena skates with another partner. Still the best love story in Figure Skating. Where the heck is Torvill and Deans Bolero? Tessa and Scott are in the right place on this list. I still watch this often. I wouldve put Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue on this list as well. Their chemistry is beautiful. So many great programs and couples though.

Please, do research before making comments such as saying that Pairs is more technically difficult than Ice Dance. They are both extremely difficult, just in different ways. While you do not jump or throw in ice dance, every movement made within Ice Dance requires extreme technical precision and a great emphasis on edge placement and synchronization of movement. It is not an easier sport just because there are no jumps, and I am sure the Pairs skaters would be the first to tell you that.

My top ten for perfection would be Torvill and Deans: -
Mack and Mabel Bolero
Song of India
Paso Doble
1994 Rhumba
OSP Rock and Roll
OSP Summertime
Oscar Tango
Fame
1996 world team championships.
These programmes show just how boring the New Era of ice dancing ice has become. Twizzles and tricks, often not in time with the music.
Watch these programmes and see what you think, bearing in mind the rules were much more restrictive.

Next to Virtue and Moir, Chock and Bates performing their snake dance ( with over 3 million YT views as of today) has got to be my personal all-time favorite, Mesmerizing, innovative, beautifully synchronized, with a real emotional connection that is reflected in all their performances. Wake up, Ice Dancing judges, dancing is creative, change is needed. Moir and Virtue, Chock and Bates are exciting to watch because their dances are new and exciting.

Who is this woman and does she have any skating credentials that might have might give her the legitimacy to pick the top 10 in pairs skating. Does she realise that pairs skating and ice dancing are totally different events.
My goodness - go to school and get educated before you go around this farcical parody! You have no idea what you are doing!

How are Torvill and Deans free dance to Bolero isnt on here? Its iconic for a reason!
Personally, I preferred Davis and Whites free dance to Phantom of the Opera (2010) or Scheherazade (2014, and Volosozhar and Trankovs Bollywood short program and their Dracula free skate at the 2016 European Figure Skating Championship is brilliant!

Very weird to mash ID and pairs together - it's like potatoes and turnips or pears and apples.
I'm bemused at the inclusion of James/Cipres (and not even their special 2018 Skate Canada program) on a list where Torvill/Dean and Papadakis/Cizeron don't feature. Maybe also Duchesnay/Duchesnay? Those guys were legends.

reply

I think you really missed the boat. Torvill and Dean. Bolero. 1984 Olympics. Highly anticipated. Amazing performance. They set a standard. Go online and watch it. We all were waiting to see it when word was out they were performing to Bolero. Nothing else was like it.
reply

G&G belongs at the top of any figure skating list! Urgh and you are so right about the nonsense cultural appropriation. The ridiculous term of the moment meant to divide us. In America all culture is our culture we are a melting pot.
reply

Torvill and Dean's Bolero is my all-time favorite, and the other performance I still go back to today is Isabelle & Paul Duchesnay 1990 World Champions dance choreographed by Christopher Dean with that beautiful music from the Andes.
reply

If you have never heard of Moiseva Minenkov, if you have never watched Artur Dimitriev, if you have never bothered seeing Gritchuk Platov you should never have ventured into such boisterous titles as naming the best of pairs skating!
reply

MsMojo, if you're going to create an account of history, you should go back further than your own generation. Your opinion doesn't hold up to history's account in Olympic competition. Maybe stick to boy band and the Kardashians.
reply

I would've replaced some on that list with:
Torvill & Dean - Bolero
Sale & Pelletier - Love Story
Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze - City Lights (Chaplin)
Bourne & Kraatz - Riverdance
Totmianina & Marinin - Ave Maria

reply

Torvill & Dean's Bolero and the Duchenay's Savage Rites (coincidentally choreographed by Christopher Dean) should have been on this list. The Duchenays were ahead of their time. The judges had no clue how to score this routine.
reply

Where is the grace? Its all quick, quick and speed. How different to Torvill and Dean who spend the whole routine very, very close. None of this separating and flinging their arms everywhere - very clumsy. No grace
reply

My all time favorites are routines by Anissina & Peizerat, there should be more of them in the list. But I also miss Grishuk & Platov's Memorial Requiem here. And of course, Torvill & Dean.
reply

Missed Torvill and Dean! Tessa and Scott should have more than one iconic dance in the list! Their Carmen routine is my personal favorite, followed by their Umbrellas of Chenobourg
reply

No, no, no. You left out the greatest, Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomorenko, 1992 Olympic Gold Medalists at Albertville. And how could you overlook Torvill and Dean?
reply

How could you have missed Torvill and Dean skating to Bolero? Theyre routine should be #1! Although I agree with some of your suggestions, I feel you missed so MANY others!
reply

Wait, what. No Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, the Canadian pairs team who won Gold in the Salt lake city Olympics with their emotional 'Love Story' program
reply

Missed seeing T/D on the list but was SO happy to see Underhill and Martini represented. Their When a Man Loves a Woman performance is not to be missed.
reply

even people who don't follow the sport know about Torville and Dean, Bolero! Come on. And Jamie Sale and David Pelletier should have gotten mentioned too.
reply

Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron should have been at the list! 2018 olympics free dance and 2019 GPF free dance which was poetry on ice
reply

Ms Mojo - you definitely need to go back and check out Britains Torvill & Dean. especially their Bolero routine. Sublime performance.
reply

OMG you forgot Torvel and Dean, they opened the door for many of these ice dancers, you should watch them skate their incredible.
reply

I gave you a BIG dislike for not even including Torvill and Dean's Bolero performance! How could you miss that?
reply

Do you get the idea that you should have included Torvill and Dean, if you know anything about ice skating-! =-)
