Shall we dance along with these animated movies? For this list, well be looking at both choreographed and spontaneous dance sequences in animated films. Our countdown includes Frozen, Fantasia, Happy Feet, and more! What's YOUR favorite animated dance number?

1. 36 noticing strong Peter Pan vibes here for the first time!
2. 08: whaaat? We don't talk about Bruno should score much higher. But thanks for showing us the real people performing the choreography to allow animators do their magic, that's so heartwarming, it made my day!
15. 00 Once upon a December from Anastasia should have gotten at least a honorable mention! It's a brief dancing sequence, yet after 25 years I still recall it as one of the most emotional moments ever seen in an animated movie.

Flynn Rider described as a Petty thief when his opening scene was stealing the lost Princess' crown, from the Royal Castle, while it's surrounded by 9 guards, and he's wanted Dead or Alive by the state.
No wonder he was so bothered that his pictures were never accurate on the posters! Poor guy not getting the criminal recognition he deserved!

I want to see more of the real life choreography from Encanto! Those clips were so good! I remember watching the movie the first time and thinking how realistic the movement was in that dance and the celebration after Antonio got his gift. More behind the scenes please!
reply

I was disappointed by every dance chosen following Bruno from Encanto and NOT because the song is so addictive or popular.
The choreography was so on point and realistic.
I guess its all based on how you define best dance (thumbnail image served its purpose)

#1 spot was the one that came to mind when this list came on. You cannot top a better moment then Beauty and the Beast and with the music to match it, its all a wonderfully made cinematic experience. 1991 was awesome! Animation was beautiful and aged so well!

If I'm being honest I would have liked to see once upon a December from Anastasia in my opinion compared to like Belle and Aurora hers is much more elegant the fact that it's some kind of whimsical Opera that manages the charm even the youngest of children

For the Dancing and the Dreaming - How to Train Your Dragon 2
Livin' La Vida Loca - Shrek 2
Flip, Flop & Fly - Chicken Run
Once Upon a Dream - Sleeping Beauty
I Like to Move It - Madagascar
Ballroom Scene - Beauty and the Beast

it's a tough call but I feel that I cvan't wait to be king out of The original Lion King should have an honorable mention may not be your average dance number but it does climax in a giant all singing / twirling animal tower
reply

Unbelievable, everything that would be considered ethnic from a white European standpoint is low on the or in the honorable mentions. WatchMojo please get some diversity in your production teams.

Beauty and the Beast is about as iconic as it gets. Pioneering use of CG and a Best Picture nomination, the only one of its time until 2009 when they widened the category to ten pictures.
reply

I first saw Sleeping Beauty at age 8 and have been
looking for someone to waltz with me in a forest glen ever since! I'm delighted to see that sequence place well.

reply

Its too bad Disney doesnt make colorful dances anymore. It seems to have fallen away with the flat style of older movies, which I quite enjoyed.
reply

While I do love We Dont Talk About Bruno and Beauty and the Beast, Im just glad anytime I get to hear a song that makes me want to move too.
reply

latinx wow! that really is cringe-worthy.
but I don't have any stakes in that.
Now if its Filipinx yeah, we're not having that.

(276) I watched Fantasia 12 times when I was a kid. I didnt know it was inspired by real ballerinas, its my favorite part in the whole movie
reply

280: Oh yeah! I love Happy Feet! Elijah Wood from The Lord of the Rings voicing Mumble in this movie just makes me dance, cant resist it
reply

Damn anytime I see the words A Goofy Movie I'm transported to my childhood neighbor, Travis', house! Sometimes I miss being a kid
reply

As someone who is body positive, I am really glad that the Ballet part in Fantasia is performed by animals from different sizes
reply

reply

YES! YES! Beauty and the Beast is my most favourite Disney movie and the fact the beautiful scene is number one! Thank you!
reply

I would have loved to see Girls & Boys of Rock & Roll from Alvin and the Chipmunks The Chipmunk Adventure make this list!
reply

Sleeping beauty is magical cos 1950's didn't have computer so the animators had to use their imagination to create the scene
reply

(278) Yeah, Im sorry but I cant stop laughing at Grus dance moves. He does have good moves but its irresistible to laugh
reply

I think what makes frozen so special it feels like the disney old classic as the shadows (dumbo) the clock (pinocchio)
reply

I love how there's all kinds of songs in here, too! Tango, waltz, disco, funk, rhythm and blues, hip hop, all sorts!
reply

These are all great, but not even one Barbie movie? At least Swan lake, The nutcracker or 12 Dancing princesses.
reply
