I think it's impossible for Barney to be Sophie's dad, but he could be THE FATHER. We never find out the name of Barney's daughter mother. She is jurt referenced as a number, since Barney was atempting the Perfect Mounth. There is an ange gap between them, but Barney always had a thing for women in their twenties tops ( with rare exceptions like Nora and Robin. That only changes after his daughter is born. Barney and Sophie could have bumped into each other that Night and meet again later in the future. The father, this time around might not be the one for Sophie, but could be in the Picture like her dad never was and a special person for her anyways. The one could be Sophie's 2050's husnand ( Jesse or one of the others)

90% I think Jesse is the father, but Sid can also be. And I am certain that this time the makers will not screw up the ending (although I didn't mind the ending of HIMYM, considering that ppl were quite disappointed with the former's finale. In HIMYF, in the first episode Sophie has clearly said that night I met your father. And then they showed all the 4 boys in the picture one by one. So I am certain father wud be one of them, not anyone else. Also, whatever happens in 2022, or later on, in the end Sophie will end up with Jesse, even if it's in 2050, after she narrates the whole story. just like Ted and Robin!

They are going to bring back in Trudy because of the pineapple. Wouldnt be surprised if shes Sophies roommates mom.

Considering the growing amount of progressive liberal culture is becoming more ubiquitous in shows, e. g. in this show there is a scene that Jessie and his adopted sister, Ellen, are in a bar and Jessie assumes another girl in the bar is gay and is correct. So, I think in that line of thought what if tje father isnt a male character, but a female character that associates taking the father role.

Its weird how this show began when I decided to watch how I met your mother, destiny perhaps!
I've started watching it a while ago and I've just finished watching the last episode a couple of minutes ago.
The thing is that I'm not interested in this show at all! and I don't like these new comedy shows, but I'm worried that it could be connected to how I met your mother.

The problem I have with this spin off is everyone is either musician or artist or fashion designer or comedian or bartender. And I could not relate to them or their struggle. Besides, I miss the campiness and ridiculousness from the original one. This time they took it quite seriously. And Josh Peck character is just obnoxious

I think the good part about Sophie being the one who we she when the story is being told and her son is the voice offscreen is that the creators don't have to have an ending hard set in stone because they don't have go worry about the son growing up and changing in appearance sense he is just a voice offscreen

Im gonna have to burst your bubble on number one. Im afraid Barney cant be Sophies father. I looked it up, and Barney was born in 1976. Sophie was born in 1992. In order for him to be Sophies father, hed have to be 16 or 17 when she was born. And the show confirms that he lost his virginity at 23.

father is either Jesse or Ian considering that things start to heat up with Ian I will doubt it. Sophie will do something to restore Jesses faith in love, maybe even propose herself? Charlie is another decent choice, but I think Sid and Hannah are more like Lily and Marshall of this show

Didnt the Captain have a daughter named Hanna that didnt get along with Zoey. What if Sids Hanna is the Captains daughter. On the off chance Sophie and Barney are related it would make more sense its bc shes another one of Jeromes love child making Sophie Barneys sister.

Sophie's appartment being the same as Cindy and Tracy's appartment is very unlikely, given that (using the clips you used) you can see the wall next to the door is quite short before it bends in Tracy's appartment, but rather long in Sophie's.

you know what. Underrated series. I dont think this show gets enough love. Sure it isnt the best sequel. But i think it does its own version of a good job of being its own show while also being aware that its a sequel of a different show

i hope people start watching this without comparing it to the original. i really enjoyed How I Met Your Father and I feel like im the only one. even though its a spinoff, people really need to stop comparing. just watch it as its own show.

1. Can't be true. Sophie turns 30 in 2022, so that would mean she's born in 1992. Barney is from 1975 and since he lost his virginity at age 23. well we all can do the math.
My guess is that Sophie's mom is #31, so also Ellie's mom.

Its a good show and I love Hilary duff but the rest of the cast are just decent. They arent bad dont get me wrong. But theres no Marshall or lily. Theres no Barney. The original costars were so much better
