Imagine if these Disney movies had been musicals. For this list, well be looking at the most notable films from the studio that would have benefited from a steady stream of singing and dancing from start to finish. Our countdown includes Hocus Pocus, Lilo & Stitch, Zootopia, and more! Which Disney movie do YOU think should've been a musical?

I like that Atlantis and The Emperor's New Groove (and Meet the Robinson's honorably mentioned) were included in this list as these two are some of my favorite underrated Disney films. And I do see some argument that adding more music could have made the films (possibly) better, but I do have to say that I like them as they are. It would be interesting to see the addition of some accurate (e. g. Incan) cultural music/songs and how different a musical version would be from the released versions that we already have. Lilo & Stitch could have also had more Hawaiian music added as the Hawaiian culture is so rich that it would have been cool to have been exposed to it upon it's release back in the early 00s.

Im sorry but I disagree with most of them except for 101 Dalmatians, Hocus Pocus and Emperors New Groove. Yes, I like musical movies such as The King and I, Singing In The Rain, Lion King and Aladdin but most of the films listed in the video are better off as non-musicals. Monsters Inc is a Pixar movie, their company doesnt do musicals, thats one of the ways Pixar stands out from Standard Disney animation, yes Coco had singing but it was done in a realistic manner instead of everyone breaking into dancing and singing. The Black Cauldron, sorry I dont see it being a musical, especially with the villain being too creepy to imagine singing.

One of the those things that irritates me the most is that people want many really good to great movies to be musicals thinking that songs will give those movies more life.
IMHO, most of the best movies of all time aren't musicals, and at many times, including songs in movies is annoying and a waste of time (attention that I'm not saying all songs are bad, and I'm talking about those loud songs that makes minds go away and sink deep into silliness and trivialities)
Literally every single movie in this list don't need to be a musical at all, the good, the bad and the mediocre ones

I don't think all of them needed to be turned into musicals but some of them definitely needed some more musical numbers I always thought giving either Jim or silver their own song in treasure planet would have been cool Jim's would have been around the line of maybe Hercules go the distance or maybe Aladdin's refrain for one jump and silver's maybe around the line of professional pirate from Muppet treasure Island.
I would love to see princess diaries been turned into a Broadway musical and seeing maybe a musical version of monsters Inc would be cool.

Top 10 times cartoons introduced new characters to their series
Examples:
PC principal - south park franchise
Wild west - family guy
Starlight glimmer - my little pony franchise
Poochie - the Simpsons franchise
Poof, sparky, foop, and Chloe Carmichael - the fairly odd parents franchise
Spinel - Steven universe franchise
Everest - paw patrol franchise
Robyn and the happy huntresses - rwby franchise
Narlene and noby narwhal - SpongeBob SquarePants franchise

I have to disagree with Atlantis and Treasure Planet on being musicals. These are two movies that some heavier undertones in their respective films. I feel like having the characters break out into random song wouldve taken away from that. Some would argue that maybe if they were musicals that they wouldve been instant hits, but a movie shouldnt have to rely on that to make it a hit. The scores they used told a story in a way that words couldnt. Especially in Atlantis.

Except that for a movie to be a musical there needs to be a script. Pirates of the Caribbean didn't have a script. The studio approached the actors and said here's a basic outline, cameras and crew, locations and set, bags of money, you have x amount of time. Have fun and left

No doubt, even Smarty Pants did a discussion video about why nobody talks about Zootopia. And honestly with the release of the Disney Plus show coming makes you wonder why they still haven't made a follow-up animated series focused around Judy and Nick
reply

They do make Lilo and Stitch into a musical for the Disney film Better Nate Than Ever but we never actually see the musical, only the audition process and the finale, so it would be great to see what Disney and musical groups can do in real life
reply

IMHO Treasure Planet doesn't need to be musicals at all. It's already a really good movie and one of the best animated movies with thought provoking plot, important messages, wonderful animation, well written characters and fantastic soundtrack
reply

Please don't give Disney anymore ideas about their animated films turning into other forms of entertainment. We have enough reboots, remakes, sequels, prequels, spin-off TV shows and Broadway shows to last us into the next millennium.
reply

I could see princess diaries being a musical cause the movie itself has good music the others on the other hand have hardly for instance the Dalmatian movie more dialogue than music not everything needs a song and dance routine
reply

Ugh, Princess DiariesI LOVE IT SO MUCH! But Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway couldnt have done a beautiful duet because of Andrews throat surgerythough I agree, it DEFINITELY shouldve been a musical.
reply

Its possible that some of the Disney movies have the best soundtrack in my opinion like The Lion King 1994, Dinosaur 2000, Meet the Robinsons and even the Underrated Disney movies could come along in my opinion.
reply

I disagree with a bunch of these. Like Monsters Inc and Lilo & Stitch especially, I just dont see them as successful if they were musicals.
Like the last thing I wanna hear is Stitch or Lilo try to sing

reply

i do agree that all these films should've been musicals, specially films like Brother bear, 101 dalmatians and Monsters, inc, happy sunday ms mojo, hope i see you soon for more like this, take care.
reply

Oddly enough, Inside Out could have been a decent musical. The premise has several human emotions as characters. Those characters could have sang at some point explaining said emotion in the song.
reply

I always imagined the Cars films and Planes films are musicals where main characters Lightning McQueen, Mater, Sally Carrera, Doc Hudson and Dusty Crophopper sing songs of their own on screen.
reply

to be honest if these movies had any more musicals in them, THEY WOULD'VE SUCKED, (ESPECIALLY) monsters Inc, atlantis & princess diaries, THEY ARE (PERFECTLY) fine/GREAT the way they are!
reply

Now I really want Brave to be a musical! Also, they should turn Lilo & Stich into a Broadway musical and include the song No One Gets Left Behind from Better Nate Than Ever!
reply

I dont disagree about Hocus Pocus, Monsters Inc or Princess Diaries. But not every Disney movie needs to be a musical. Big Hero 6 to me was a breather to me after Frozen.
reply

I agree, there should be a Zootopia musical, though there is a fan-made number on Nick's point of view, in which he talks about why he became a crook at the time.
reply

I thought Raya and the Last Dragon would have benefitted as a musical too. Awkwafina doing rapping. Cassie Steele is a singer and was originally casted as Raya.
reply

How about musicals based on Horror Movies? Halloween, The Shining, Children of the Corn? No? Then maybe, like this list, some movies should be left left a lone.
reply

I love The Emperor's New Groove but there are times where I wish that both that movie and Kingdom of the Sun can exist together that would have been awesome. :)
reply

Speaking of Big Hero 6, could we get a list of Top 10 episodes from the follow-up series, and also; Disney, could you please do a revival on that show please?
reply

I have to disagree with most of these. if they were all full of musical numbers, than the bits of music we did get wouldn't be as impactful.
reply

Uhhhhh. No. Lilo and Stitch, Atlantis, The Princess Diaries, The Emperor's New Groove, and other Disney movies don't need the musical treatment.
reply

If you cant fly, then run, if you cant run, then walk, if you cant walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward
