While these are mostly rooted in some real sensitivities in the community, results may vary. But I have to say that one thing musical theatre people almost always are is tougher than you think. In my (fairly substantial) experience, though we may get emotional when people insult or belittle our passion, it really only serves to diminish them in our eyes. Musical theatre has something for absolutely everyone, if one looks hard enough, and anyone who chooses to mock theatre people instead of giving it a chance (or several) is making a statement about themselves, not about theatre.
Besides, when we get our feelings hurt, there are plenty of great songs for us to sing or dance our sadness and anger out with

As someone who had done countless professional theater productions in LA from age 7 to 15 I can say these are pretty much all true. I don't do theater anymore but I still love going and seeing a show from time to time. Last year I saw wicked in Dallas and earlier this year I saw mean girls in Dallas as well. I moved back to California and in late November I have tickets to see Annie in LA I'm so excited since Annie has always been my favorite musical and it's the musical that got me into musicals.

What about. Haven't you seen this show before? Why do you need to see it xxx times. isn't it the same? When my husband said that to me when he took me to see the Lion King for my 17th time. I let out a large gasp. followed by. what did you just say. I don't think he will ever ask that again.

I'm highly sensitive and think musicals are overwhelming. I like it when the song makes sense and enhances the plot, otherwise, it's just too much loud singing and the story is lost on me. Imagine reading a book and then getting startled by a trumpet.

It's horrible that some people get their kicks out of insulting a show or performer. They have worked really hard, and poured their heart into their work, and people should keep their opinions to themselves if they're not constructive or helpful.

When I saw the listing about the Scottish play, I laughed because it reminded me of the Blackadder episode where he continually said Macbeth to the two superstitious actors who would do an elaborate chant to counteract the curse.

Musical theater does showcase masterpieces you need to witness live onstage. Theres no doubt about the fact that theater will just compel you to appreciate the mastery of many other art forms that some people take less value.

Musical Theatre isn't just a career or an art form, it's a lifestyle. Also, the singing of showtunes is really relatable as I am guilty of that especially in public, I sometimes get looks because of it

That's one thing I tend to get annoyed about, when people think musicals and palys are the same thing. They're not interchangeable.
One has music and dance and the other is just spoken dialogue

Many films are turned into musicals; why not the other way round? That way, viewers could enjoy the story without being bizarrely interrupted several times by incongruous song & dance routines.

Whenever someone says Lin-who? I'm going to go on full roasting mode because I'm such a huge fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I absolutely hate it when someone asks that question.

Telling a theater fan/performer to stop with the show tunes is like telling an athlete/sports enthusiast to stop talking about sports

I once went trick-or-treating with theater kids. They sang show tunes for candy. They even rehearsed before going out.

Here's one: The movie version was better. There is only one exception to this being a no-no, and that is Grease.
