To be clear, Jennifer Grey was the passenger in that auto fatality, Brodrick was the driver. If you don't know the incident, it's not a case of celebrities gone off the deep end. It's just a tragic story that could happen to anyone traveling abroad and anyone that has and driven overseas, knows what I'm about to say. Basically, Grey and Brodrick were a under the rader couple who took holiday out of the United States. Dirty Dancing hadn't come out yet, but Ferris Buller did and was a hit so the press shy Brodrick wanted to lay low. The irony of that intention. So, they rented a car and went on a destinationless road trip somewhere in Europe. Not paying attention while site seeing taking the scenic route, Matthew unconsciously reverted to his second hand nature as an American of driving on the right side of the road, when in England, it's the opposite and the left lane is the dominant lane for all mode of transportation. During this all to common roadway error of all foreigners on either side of the pond whether going there or they to us, Brodrick unwittingly had set in motion a chain reaction where he unknowingly was in a collision course with tragedy, figuratively and literally. The lapse in judgement was brief, but long enough and he going at enough of an accelerated rate of speed taking a bend on the road to not see the oncoming vehicle that suddenly jolted seemingly out of nowhere coming ng directly right for them. Brodrick had no time to react, for the reaction time was so minimal and unfolding accident about to occur, there was no possibility of his even recognizing the critical mistake in the scenario was actually his, much less time to avert the collision. He wouldnt realize his crucial error in the Malay till much later. Jennifer Grey never saw it coming till the cars smashed into one another like a demolition derby from Hell. The other car's passengers were two elderly women who were killed instantly. Brodrick sustained some injuries, but all were ones he would eventually make a full recovery from. At least the physics ones. Mentally, he would be plagued by nightmares for his role in the taking of two innocent lives. Grey, in the other hand, suffered severe injuries including a broken leg that took years to rehab and never fully needed one hundred percent and left her with a lifelong trauma of recurring physical debilitating pain. Both Grey and Brodrick were knocked unconscious upon impact. They were found immediately by the next motorist on the road who quickly called for emergency medical responders.
Because it was overseas and both Hollywood actors had to heal there, they also had to remain while also awaiting trial for the horrific accident,
Because it was outside of America and pre internet, and Brodrick and Grey remained out of sight, the story largely remained somewhat out of the limelight. The only big news flash cycle was the day the verdict was announced and Brodrick was free of criminal wrongdoing and the case was ruled accidental manslaughter.
The New York Post infamously, tastelessly ran the headline: Ferris Buller Gets Off!
The couple eventually returned stateside after and soon quickly broke up weeks later. The invent quickly was forgotten about and is a no no topic with both Brodrick and Grey with their publicists.

The way Disney stars are treated while trying to grow up is ridiculous. Especially the girls. Parents shamed Miley for her behavior and setting a bad example for children. Well it's your job to raise and monitor your children, not hers. And she was a teenager at the time. No teenager should have the pressure put on them to be an innocent perfect role model. That's not realistic. And if you put too much pressure on something eventually it's going to crack. Teenage years are tough, kids are trying to find themselves as they get closer to adulthood. It's not a squeaky clean process.

Thirteen was a really good movie. As someone who used to be a thirteen-year-old girl, it's very accurate. Wanting to be more grown up then you are, every emotion is the biggest emotion you ever felt, your female friendships feel like the most important thing in the world, and you will do things you're uncomfortable with for the love and acceptance of your social groups. Yeah, that's teen girlhood in a nutshell.

For heathers, I think the best version is the musical. I think its a good insight into what happens when kids are pushed over the limit. They ether hurt someone or hurt themselves. I also think it dose a pretty decent job depicting how parents, schools and media deal with these traumas, or lack there of.

I remember Juno and the teen pregnancy scandal. When that scandal came out along with Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy when that made headlines. In fact it all happen when I was 14 turning 15 so everyone needs to stop blaming the media beacause we don't know who maybe responsible for this.

I do feel that both the film, Thirteen, and the film, Juno, were very unfairly criticized on their content and possible influence. For it seems that for both films that the content was much more real in our society than folks would like to admit.

Poor Jennifer Grey, it must have been hard to enjoy the success of Dirty Dancing after the horrifying car crash which left her injured, and likely traumatised for life.

I remember watching Thirteen when I was thirteen and I and others I knew definitely could relate to a lot of what was shown. I love that movie.

The Thirteen movie was controverse because it was based on north-americans' view about younghood. Here, in Brazil, this movie is pretty accurate

Thirteen is a really intense and uncomfortable movie, and it is amazing. Its heartbreaking that its based on Nikki Reeds real teenage years.
reply

I love thirteen. It shows what happens to teens under bad influence. Parents just dont wanna believe it happens, let alone to their kids.

They never should have tried to remake Heathers in the present day. What was satire in the 80's is now all too real post Columbine.

Twilight saga movie Trilogy.
