I wouldn't have thought of any Arthur episodes, because the actual Halloween episodes of that show aren't very good but What Scared Sue Ellen? is a good one to watch for Halloween. Not technically a Halloween episode but it is a spooky episode.
The Haunted Mask was spectacular. The sequel was just as good. She didn't steal the mask, though. She gave the owner money for it.
And you got #1 right. There's lots of great Treehouse of Horror episodes and the 5th one is the best one

Disappointed that there were no episodes from The Real Ghostbusters or Tales from the Crypt Keeper cartoon or The Haunting Hour on here. Then again, how do you have a Halloween episode when the whole show is horror?
I can't believe you went with The Twisted Claw for Are You Afraid of the Dark? Dead Man's Float, Ghastly Grinner, Crimson Clown, or Dark Music were scarier.

reply

There were several super scary Ducktales episodes, e. g. one about a haunted hotel, another one about a haunted castle and one about druids / a stone circle in Scotland. Surprised not even one made it on the list. If only all of the episodes were available somewhere (same goes for Adventures of the Gummi Bears.

I can never take any Courage the Cowardly Dog episode seriously anymore because Eustace is so unbearably rude it makes me laugh out loud at everything he does I feel like making him that way all the time was purposefully done to add some humor to all of the scary scenes you are also put through

Back in the day when I was a teenager, I used to watch the Dark Corner, the original was called the Dark Oracle in the 90s, it was a segment of Halloween shows and movies, it used to start at September 1st to October 31st every year at 7pm every Saturday's, it was amazing watching those shows

Nightmare Cafeteria was definitely my childhood fear.
Hmm, The Tale of the Twisted Claw I think otherwise, The Tale of the Frozen Ghost was perhaps grimmer.
The Haunted Mask indeed haunts us as children. The Stay Out of the Basement episode chilled me the most.

This Years Halloween Show Is VERY, VERY SCARY, & THOSE Of You With Young Children May Wanna Send Them Off To Bed AT. (Looks At The Script) Oh MY, It Seems That The Show Is SOO SCARY, That Congres Wont Even Let Us SHOW It.
- Marge Simpson, Treehouse Of Horror

I've never seen the show where the Aunt tells them that Halloween candy is poisonous. If she meant all Halloween candy then she was wrong but if she meant some could be is not a lie! That's WHY parents should always check the candy before the children eat it!

Ah these episodes take me back to my elementary school days Im so thankful to have watched these episodes also instead of the haunted train episode you guys shouldve put the ghost bride episode instead not just for the story but also how the episode ends
reply

The whole thing about Angelica's Worst Nightmare is so off-putting from her nightmare all the way to the end where her mom's suddenly not pregnant anymore. It's so well-done and deals with real-life anxieties and loss in a sensitive way.

Will definitely be hoping for an eventual part 2 please, here's a mini list: teen Titans fear itself, Sabrina the teenage witch Molly Dolly episode, any episode in aah real monsters and all grown up interview with a campfire.

I love Hey Arnold. This show, Doug and Are you Afraid of the Dark just screams NICK-stalgia to me. I'm 40 now and to this day, I still love these shows. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
reply

You throw around the word traumatised like it's the same as being scared.
There are people here with REAL trauma so stop being so disrespectful. PTSD is NOT the same as being scared.

reply

Nightmare Cafeteria is why I actually like that Principal Skinner gets killed in some of the later Treehouse of Horror episodes, especially when one of his killers was Bart.
reply

That Goosebumps episode really did a number on me as a kid The mask not coming off came out of nowhere which I think added to the scares. That and the claustrophobic experience.
reply

I remember every one of these (except Suite Life - my little sister watched; I didn't. I wont lie. The Goosebumps and Hey Arnold episodes creeped me out when I was younger.
reply

Treehouse of Horror V is also the best Treehouse of Horror episode. Oh I wish I wish I hadn't killed that fish from Time & Punishment may be my favorite line in the series
reply

reply

Night of the Living Dummy from Goosebumps absolutely terrified me. I think it's where my distaste for ventriloquists began
