Mel Blanc was peerless, in an age that hadn't really even figured out voice acting, yet.
Was it an acting role? Was it visual sound effects?
James Earl Jones went through much the same thought, going uncredited as the voice of Vader in the first Star Wars movie because A) He didn't consider it more than sound effects, talking in a booth while B) there's a big irish guy _working_ in the suit, and Jones didn't wanna step on the toes of Prows(sp, who was sweating under the stage lights (funny thing is the guy in the suit thought they were gonna add sound effects to _his_ voice, not replace his voice _entirely, _ THANKS, _George)_
Still, Mel Blanc still holds the all time greatest voice acting take for the Rabbit Season/Duck Season episode of Looney Tunes:
Bugs doing an impression of Daffy
Daffy doing an impression of Bugs
_Both_ of them arguing back and forth
Elmer Fudd is present, and Blanc plays him, too
_He does it in __ONE TAKE! _
He also did the BEY-oooooo-WHP sound at the end of every cartoon

The Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite movies of all time, and much of that is due to the voice cast. Eartha Kitt, Patrick Warburton, John Goodman, David Spade. what a lineup! Add to that a hilariously brilliant script, and you have one of the funiest, most underrated animated films of all time. It should be a classic, but it hardly gets much attention outside of its diehard fans or voice acting enthusiasts.
Speaking of voice acting, James Arnold Taylor should probably have gotten a shoutout on this list as well. Dude has a long list of impressive voice credits to his name. I was kind of surprised he didn't even get a mention here.

Grey DesLisle deserves a mention at the very least. Shes one of those actors who WAS our childhood from Fosters Home, Danny Phantom, Scooby-Doo, Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy, The Fairly OddParents, and SO MANY MORE! But if were just talking over the top characters, she takes the cake with Azula. That was one dangerous 14-year old who easily made men in the ATLA universe shake in their boots! Zuko and Iroh wouldve rather been killed by the Earth Kingdom than turned over to her. And who can forget the line where shes about to celebrate becoming an only child!

I love the story I heard, as The Emperor's New Groove was released in theaters, there was a water park that got a new attraction:
There's a tube they seal you in, the operator pulls a lever, and it drops the floor out from under you so you slide to the bottom
One of the operators tells a story where he seals a woman into the tube who demands, as he's walking away, KRONK! Pull the lever!
As he did, and the chute opened, the last thing he and everybody heard as she went down the slide was
WRONG LEVEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeer!

Mel Blanc deserved to be higher. But the real question is where on this list is Billy West (Fry, Dr. Zoidberg, Professor Farnsworth & Zapp Brannigan in Futurama, as well as Ren in Ren & Stimpy. and thevRed M&M from the M&M commercials) and Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson, Krusty the Klown, Barney Gumble, Groundskeeper Willie, Mayor Quimby, Hans Moleman and Sideshow Mel. to name a smalk fraction of the voices he has done?
How do you miss out THOSE 2 absolute legends of voice acting?

I like how well Jim Cummings did with making Dr. Robotnik's voice sound seriously evil in the SaTAM Sonic cartoon series from the 90s that was produced by DIC entertainment. They were trying to make that mad scientist be more evil in that animated series than he was in any other one, and Jim Cummings sure did a great job at making Dr. Robotnik sound like that whenever he was talking in that show!

You guys are criminal here. Mel Blanc AT NUMBER 4! No mention of Jim Cummings performance as Minsc in Baldur's Gate? Not even an Honorable Mention for Jennifer Hale? What are guys high on because it's seriously damaging your brain.
And missing Kevin Conroy (noticed that in the comments) is also an indication of a damaged mind.

The late Mel Blanc should have been at the top of the list. He and the late June Foray were the OGs and should be given the respect and rank they earned for their decades of dedication to their craft. It is important to highlight today's voice over artists, but we should never forget the trailblazers of the industry.

Hank Azaria, Maurice LaMarche, June Foray, most of the voice actors on The Simpsons. This could have easily been Top 50 OTTVAP. Did you just throw darts at a photo covered dart board to choose this 20 because you missed far too many incredible actors that should have been on this list.

kinda surprised Phil Lamar wasn't here, but still pleased to see the other icons I look up to are here (Tara, Rob, Mark, Robin) and take a bit of their energy in learning voice acting myself. The main thng being to have fun with the role(s) to make them yours and genuine.

I dislike the new cartoons that are made for television. They are mindless junk that skirt the boundaries of human depravity. The actors and actresses are probably very good, but I would never bother to find out. At least the cartoons designed for movies still have some class.

I think it is worth noting that in Hotel Transylvania 4, Adam chose to step down from the role of Drac, and Brian Hull stepped in for him. He stepped in so seamlessly, that honestly, its a little hard to tell the difference, in my opinion at least.

Robin Williams over Mel Blanc for 1st place? This was clearly an emotional decision on your part and not one based on knowledge of the collective years of scores of voices that Mel Blanc provided for generations on a weekly basis. This is pure blasphemy.

While I believe you have a terrific list, I think there is a vast oversight. Peter Cullen. Voice of Optimus Prime, the Predator, and others. You have Frank Welker on there (nicely done, but Peter has always been the hearty voice of most of our childhoods

I feel like theres so many voice actors/actresses that do so well on a piece that just dont get talked about (totally not biased as this is my favorite show, but) Like AJ Michalka did in She-ra, the EMOTIONS I felt, genuinely felt so real

It's a shame that Benedict Cumberbatch isn't included in this list. I know that there's motion-capture involved but it's really his voice that make the Necromancer and Smaug the Magnificent into the great characters they are.

I'd nominate George C. Scott as Percival McLeach, the villain in The Rescuers Down Under. He overacted gloriously, gave the character maximum George C. Scott vibes, and had some very infectious fun doing so.

How did Maurice LaMarche not make this list?
Movies, television, video games. Hundreds of credits from Animainiacs to Best Fiends to Zootopia, he is an exceptionally talented voice actor.

Grey de Lisle needs to be added to the list. Her work is extensive, and most Nick fans will recognize her as the voice of Sam (Danny Phantom) and most especially as Azula from Avatar the Last Airbender.

What really gets me is that Gilbert used his stage voice so often, I had never heard his normal voice until shortly after Bob Saggat died, and I watched him do a respectful interview like, _No way! _

How is Hank Azaira not on this list? Paul Winchell, Thurl Ravenscroft and Bill Melendez.
I'm sorry, but Chris Rock basically just did Chris Rock during his voice overs. Same for Dwayne Johnson.

No, Dan Castellaneta? How could they not mention him? He's been voicing Homer Simpson and hundreds of other characters for the last 35 years, and he doesn't even get an honorable mention.

Im very surprised Grey Griffin (DeLisle) wasnt on the list. She played 84 characters on Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends. She also is now playing the role of Daphne Blake.

Would have been really upset if there was no mention of him

You're going to have a list of the greatest voice actors and not include Jim Carey, Seth Green, Casey Kasem, and John Ritter? Interesting.
