The most heartbreaking moment in TV history that I have seen is Sybil Branson/Crawley’s death in the third season of Downton Abbey. That show alone has many heartbreaking moments but Sybil’s deathhurts me so much. It might be the most heartbreaking fictional death I have ever come into contact it. I’ve seen that show 4 and a half times (I’m going through it again and I’m on season 5 I believe) and while many moments on that show break my heart (Matthew’s surprising death, Anna’s attack, Lavinia’s death, the entire WWI plot) Sybil’s death hurts me the most. She’s my favorite character on the show and watching her die after having just become a mother is gut wrenching. Then having her entire family (husband, parents, sisters) be in the room with her watching her die is just heartbreaking. And then the episodes after it when everyone’s grieving and Tom’s trying to figure out how to be a father for his daughter without his wife, Cora and Robert are fighting, Matthew and Mary are arguing it’s all just so sad. It’s definitely the most depressing part of the show for me. But I loved Sybil so much. That show is full of many mischievous, sneaky, mean, bad intentioned people. Even some of the good guys in that show have moments where they do something not so good or just down right hurtful. But Sybil stayed kind and caring towards everyone throughout the whole show. She loved her sisters and treated them with kindness even when they didn’t treat each other well. She loved her parents and tried to reconnect with them after she married Tom. She was kind and caring towards the servants Thomas, Anna, Gwen standing out. And unlike most people on that show pretty much everyone loved her. Thomas who disliked a lot of people and treated people badly cared for her. Her sisters who like I said treated each other terribly treated Sybil like an Angel. Carson who was a strict, up tight butler had a very tender and caring heart towards Sybil. And then obviously Tom loved Sybil more than anything and respected her. She was really the only character I never got mad at or annoyed with at all throughout the entirety of the show. Anna, Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Bated, Corathey were all kind and caring as well but they all had moments where I wasn’t fully agreeing with them. But I never disliked or disagreed with Sybil. She was so beautiful inside and out. And when she died she took some of the heart and light that the show had. The show was never the same after she died whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing. But I always miss her so much after she dies. Even once I’ve gotten to season 5 or 6 and it’s been 2-3 seasons since she died and 4-5 years in the show since she died I still miss her so much. She was such a uniquely kind and beautiful character on a show full of characters who were constantly out for each other, trying to wreck each other’s lives, sneaking around, lying to each other. She was kind and caring to everyone. She treated everyone no matter who they were lord, lady, servant, farmer with the same level of compassion and respect. She’s only in the show for three and a half seasons but she has always stood out to me the most and has left the biggest impact on me. More than other characters like Mary or Anna who were in the show for all six seasons. Her death shocked me and left me feeling completely heartbroken. So much so that I usually have to take a break from the show for a few days every time I watch her death now.

Boy Meets World has many heartbreaking moments but I think the most heartbreaking moment of the show is either Chet Hunter’s death, Shawn Hunter’s prayer/speech when Mr. Turner’s in the hospital or when baby Joshua being in the hospital. All three storylines break my heart. Chet’s death leaves me sobbing. Mr. Turner’s accident makes me extremely sad. Joshua’s birth and then stay in the hospital is gut wrenching. I relate to that storyline the most because I myself was in the NICU when I was born. I was almost dead when I was born and I stayed in the NICU for a month. Watching the Matthews family praying, trying to figure out what to do or how to feel, Shawn talking to baby Josh talking about how many people love him and care for him really hits me hard because I know that that’s exactly what my family went through when I was born.

OK I AM PUTTING THIS IN CAPS BECAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS ABSOLUTELY SEEN!
I constantly defend Mojo. But this Clickbait BS is infuriating! The thumbnail that you have, the scene from Scrubs, BEN’S Funeral, that is literally one of the most heartbreaking scenes in TV history! Even people that didn’t watch the show know that scene! John McGinley’s performance in that scene is unmatched and there is not a single fan that didn’t break down in tears! Why would you bother putting that as your thumbnail if you weren’t going to include it in the list!
I’m literally needing someone to explain that to me as it makes no sense. First of all since when does Mojo need Clickbait And also what is the point, it is actually one of the saddest scenes in TV history so why wouldn’t it actually be on the list

aww you went back to Good Times! I remember that! I hated the whole rose/doctor romance and i didnt see most of these shows. The show that made me cry for 2 solid episodes and makes me resist ever rewatching is Halt and Catch Fire, the last 2 episodes of the final season. That was one of my fave every shows, saw it a few years back on netflix. But OMG that death and seeing everyones reactions. ..

Poor Buffy discovering Joyce’s body strikes several chords deep within me. Despite having a rocky relationship with her, Buffy loved Joyce deep down, and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s heartbreaking performance in The Body reminds us to keep your loved ones closer than your enemies, who you should keep closer than your friends. You never know for sure when they’ll breathe their last.

The first time I saw Archie cry after Edith's death, I bawled
My personal list
Full House - Papouli dies
BH 90210 - Dylan's wife dies
Archie Bunker's Place - Edith's off screen death, parts one and two
Dallas - Sue Ellen's eulogy at JR's funeral
BH 90210 - Dylan's dad is killed (we think)

The death of Dan in Lucifer if one of the most powerfully devastating scenes especially when Chloe has to tell Trixie. Also Kudos to Romy Rosemont’s portrayal as Carol Hudson in the Quarterback Episode of Glee. Her delivery during the scene where they are going through FInns possessions is outstanding

The saddest part about number 11 is that later on, the actor who played Richard Gilmore actually died and they wrote the death into the show’s 2016 revival, while Emily still lives.

I don't know how the final episode of WandaVision - when she and Vision put their boys to bed before her fake reality disappears -- didn't make either of these lists. I was SOBBING.

The Doctor having to erase Donna’s memory is more Heartbreaking. Granted both of those endings were undone later so I wouldn’t have had either that high on the list.

One show I think that is frequently overlooked is Yellowstone and it's prequels. Elsa's death, in the arms of her father, from 1883 is absolutely heartbreaking.

If I didn’t get a chance to tell Billie Piper I loved her, I’d be devastated too. She isn’t in my wheelhouse, she owns my wheelhouse. lol

I'm still mad over Charlie's death.
The scene in The Walking Dead where Maggie has a deep monologue in season 11 brought me to tears.
