18 Minutes of FAST RACING NEO Direct Feed Gameplay (60FPS)

Here's over 18 minutes of direct-feed single player and split-screen gameplay from FAST RACING NEO, the blisteringly fast new F-Zero spiritual successor coming to the Wii U later this year

This game looks nice but since a lot of people are trashing Wipeout HD I'm just going to make a few points:
-FRN has stage hazards whereas WHD has weapons. I'd argue the latter is a little more interactive than the former.
-FRN is faster than WHD but tracks are almost entirely straight lines. Phantom speed feels faster because the track is working against you by shoving sudden curves on you.
-FRN has impressive visuals but a bland design and are monochromatic. WHD tracks are busier, more colorful and more varied.
-Wipeout's soundtrack is much better, but then again it has historically always been extremely good, with world-renown DJs providing the music.
FRN looks great, and I'll probably pick it up on my Wii U, but I don't understand why people are downplaying Wipeout, which is clearly an inspiration for this game in the first place and something the developers probably love themselves. Have fun either way.

I swear this game cheats. No matter how fast I go, the AI is always able to get 2 lengths on me in less than 10 seconds. I also don't like where they put the booster, and would have liked a map. I would have preferred boost on X and have R be switch. That said, this game is stunning. Breathtaking scenery and solid course design make this a worthwhile experience.

I am one of the folks saying, I just want a new F-Zero. But apart from me wanting a new F-Zero I would have appreciated a game thats even better or equally good. So they knew about F-Zero, why didnt they think about what made Fzero so epic and started working on that? Everything about this game seems to just be less.

I don't think it quite has as break-neck speeds as in F-Zero, and I'm not totally sold on the changing colors mechaninc, but it still looks pretty good. And ya know what, if Nintendo keeps sitting on the F-Zero IP without doing shit with it, this may be the only 'F-Zero'-ish game we get for the Wii U.

Seeing this game and then finding out it's a Wii U exclusive is like seeing a hot chick at a party and finding out she has a boyfriend but you keep staring at her in disbelief. I must add that I'm rather pleased to see this on Nintendo in my respects to the king that passed away this year: (

Shin'en has always been a fourth-string developer. Some graphical elements look nice but the gameplay looks boring and it probably controls like garbage since the person playing the demo can't even avoid crashing into everything.

but i ask how can this a spiritual successor to f zero and the games are 2 completely different games? so again if u stop looking at this game and comparing it to f zero u might can find some new enjoyment in a game like this
reply

Stop crying kids and ask your parents to buy you this game so we can get an F-zero game. We need to show nintendo that we want games like this, we want F-zero. So this game has to succeed.

More of a successor to tube slider not F-Zero. The tracks and driving seem incredibly stuff compared to the sharp turns and swiftness of F-zero. There are hardly and turns in this =-

Good looking game. narrow tracks. low camera angle. hard to get a few of the track at that speed. Looks fun though, just feels like i could get lost in the blur effects at times

I'm sure if I got this game I'd play it for 10 minutes, get kinda bored, and then go back to GX. Looks pretty good, but I don't like it being called a successor to F-Zero.

i had high hopes for this game. graphics look nice, but the gameplay seems dull. youre basically driving straighht the whole time. just collect orbs and boost. blah

It's funny that this game has way better graphics than Star fox Zero and I bet Star fox will be gigs in size and made by a much larger team of developers.

THE fk people think this game has anything to do with F zero, Its like saying Need for speed is a spiritual succesor to Nascar 1998 because it has cars in it
reply

I bet you Nintendo is using this game as a test to see if f-zero is worth bringing back sales wise. They need to market the crap outta this game.
reply

Anyone see the resemblance to Extreme-G 2? This is what it reminds me of except clear HD graphics, better controls, and online multi-player. O. O
reply

I get the feeling that Nintendo are looking at this game like a test to see if they can have Shinen make F-Zero games for them in the future

Absolutely Stunning game. This is an immediate pickup. I've been itching for a good Futuristic arcadey racing game for a few years now.

People told me about this game. I laughed at them and said it was terrible.
Now I've actually seen it. egg is all over my face

im playing this right now and i must say im glad i purchased it and i am happy to support shinen and their great game FAST RACING NEO

if there's one thing this game has, it's style. Looks awesome. But does it play awesome? maybe they will eventually increase the pace.

This version of the game has better menu music than the switch and the switch version has a annoying as f-k sounding announcer
reply

F zero? hmm. looks like f zero. Tastes like F Zero. Wait is captain Falcon a Racer? . Then it is no F Zero: (
reply

Shit, imagine if these guys went back to Iridion and turned it into an on-rails 3D shooter in the style of StarFox.
reply

If this is the third party equivalent to Fzero I'd like to see third party devs working on a metroid clone.
reply

they cant make this, WiiU is a bad system, it cant handle good graphics, and 60fps! its agains the rules (sarcasm)
reply

How to make this game even better. Make the Captain Falcon amiibo compatible so you can unlock the Blue Falcon.
reply

Hopefully this game doesn't have quirky 20XX physics like F-ZERO GX, as the game would be focused on one vehicle.
reply

Amazing that this game gets an eshop release while amiibo fest and Ultra Smash get physical releases.
reply

Since this game's Nintendo, I wonder if they could have an F-Zero DLC so I can race as Captain Falcon
