Let me get this straight. The 'new' 3D polygon models are just the buildings while the characters & item sprites are still pixelated because there's no OpenGL filtering? Something that Megaton Edition had but you can't buy it anymore because Gearbox had it delisted along with the original DN3D? Plus the new recorded lines from John St. John sound muffled? And they're charging $20 because the 'new' level they added is the sequel that DNF should have been?

take a game that's 20 years old, slap on some bloom and post. process. effects. call it a day, sell game for 20 Euros.
Glad i got the kick ass and cheap megaton edition about a year ago before it got pulled, costed me like 2 or 3 $, had all the expansions, co op play, suppotred modern OSs properly too with high resolution options for your monitor, multiplayer and steam workshop support.

OMG - HORRIBLE! I can't believe I played a game with such poor graphics as this! Well hey - it was the mid '90s and running on the MS-DOS platform back in the day. But what's their excuse for putting this low-quality crap on the market? Black Mesa HF looks spectacular as a remake of the original Half-Life. So what's the problem here?

never having bout any version of duke 3d since I played it on PC back in 98 I thought this release was awesome. nostalgia inducing. especially since it was on discount on the PSN recently. people who already own a remastered version just need to zip it and move on. quit complaining, it's not targeted at you guys.

what is funny is that the news and ppl back in the early/mid 90's would talk about how violent and gory the graphics were on games like this or doom. the lesson there for parents is before you say something is too mature or violent for your kids try and realize it will likely look lame in 20+ years.

I don't understand. just WHAT exactly do people hate about Duke Nukem as a character? Sure, he's cheesy and he's a womanizer, but is that really enough to absolutely hate a character? Do you know how many cheesy womanizing popular characters I can name off the top of my head?

I'm not paying 20 bucks for an old ass game with graphics like this. And before you get triggered, I grew up with this game. The least they could do was make it look good. Ever played the Abe's Odyssee Remake? I wish this was like that.

The only memorable things about Duke Nukem is he has a funny voice and says old movie quotes and the levels reference old movies non-stop.
Also almost every single one of his games were bad.
Duke Nukem is just Gex

not a fan of the re-recorded duke lines and shitty, unaltered sound effects, my god it combines horribly. disappointed. hopefully the rumored sequel to Duke brings it back to its former glory

this shouldve been remade on the same engine dukenukem forever used, wouldve been way cooler.
but they took the cheapest way and just literally ripped an ancient game

reply

it's worth mentioning that the audio (aside from the rerecorded duke talk) sounds like someone dropped the original sound files into a toilet.
reply

Why didn't you pick up the RPG at the start of the level?
Or started the movie so you could blow up the screen and get the jetpack?

reply

Played through it on GOG, Eduke32, Xbox Live Arcade, Megaton Edition, PS1, N64, and Genesis. I think I will pass this time, guys.

Oh man, Polygon's been practicing their Doom skills. Well played good sir/madam, well played. #PotentiallyTooSoonIDontKnow

Can't they just remake this game using the same engine from Forever? Cause in my opinion this game would look so badass LOL
reply

Looks like a quick cash grab from whomever owns the IP nowadays, disappointing! Better off playing the OpenGL ports on PC
reply

didn't they. just remaster this last year? I played it all the way through on the ps3 and the Vita.
