The way of the spider. It's a fighting style he has developed on his own, which works very well for him. Since he also uses his webs, and spider sense to their absolute function and potential. Not to mention that even though spiderman isnt -buff- like the Hulk, he is by no means a weakling. He can hold his own with even the Hulk himself(spiderman can potentially lift 100 tons, due to his strength, skills, agility, speed, gadgets, webs, spider sense, and now combine that with a fighting style that fits him well. VERY OVERKILL.
Sometimes it just make you question how he controls his punches, just so he doesnt kill people when fighting them.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Spiderman is so strong due to his powers that he struggles to pull his punches and has to take his non powered enemies hits like they've actually landed a strike to prevent their fists from shattering.
This was portrayed well in the MCU. Spiderman leisurely catches the winter soldier's fist mid air and inspects the -metal arm- approvingly in the MCU's Civila War. In the Infinity War, spiderman casually stops an attack that would've struck an immobilizer Iron Man. The enemy who's name escapes me was robust and strong enough to take hits designed to punish the hulk.

Saying he doesn't have the strength but relies on his agility alone is like saying Muhammad Ali was only fast and didn't have any knockout power. But for both Ali and Spidey, speed is there main strength, for Ali because he was faster than he was strong, for Spidey because he was too strong so he has to hold back. Also I'm surprised at the lack of Muay Thai with how many elbows and knees he uses but especially Taekwondo. I mean, his arsenal is 90% kicks and just like Boxing is the best punching martial art, Taekwondo is the best kicking martial art, and he uses a lot of Taekwondo moves, like a lot.

Wait, so your thesis is that in the Spider-Man game, Spider-Man's fighting style is a combination of three fighting styles and one of those fighting styles is Spider-Man's fighting style? I mean, you probably just could have said it was a combination of those two fighting styles and talked about the comic book influences separately.
That may have made the video seem less cohesive, but at least then it wouldn't be thoroughly underwhelming when you get to the third one and you're like, -Oh, Spider-Man fights like Spider-man. Sure. -

Everyone always says it-s most definitely Way of the Spider, despite that being something that most definitely didn-t happen in Insomniac-s Spider-Man, never mind the fact that Peter was fighting as Spider-Man for years before that event ever happened. More than enough time for him to develop his own fighting style. I-m also pretty sure there are several accounts in different media of Spidey developing his moves through online research, watching videos and reading. Pretty fitting for a superhero that-s also a major nerd.

I mean, Spider-Man is inhumanly strong. It is said multiple times that he holds back so as not to kill people, so the argument that he uses Lucha Libre to fight because he can't overpower his enemies is kind of a false flag. He can do it easily, so it's more likely that he does it because of the acrobatic spectacle. He has been known to sling insults and one liners all throughout fights, so he's not above using some over the top moves to throw his opponents off and confuse them.

Ok so you said he had three influences for his fighting style, you talked about capoeira & luche libre, so whats the third influence? I know you talked about his experience in comics, but I was expecting a here's a third or another real world example instead of: here's three influences capoeira, luche libre, and he had multiple fights with baddies. end video. what's the third influence? because the final talking point is more general than anything that the other two had.

Spiderman has to use fighting forms that work with his web-slinging momentum. Peter Park is only like 5ft 8in and at the most like 170lbs with his muscles. He swings around to throw as much of his mass with momentum to make heavy hits. So if he misses a hit he also needs to agile and flexible enough to rebalance himself make a counterstrike. It's what you gotta learn to do when you're the smaller fighter in a big fight.

He doesn't do Way of the Spider in this game. This is Spider-Man at his most core, high school/university days. I understand they had him learn martial arts in the comics, but that's not Spider-Man at his most core. He'd be way overpowered then. Plus, this game wouldn't feel like a Spider-Man game, it's just feel like a heavily modified Batman Arkham game with Spider-Man as the main character.

Big fan, but this specific video was extremely hard to watch with recent revelations on the long-term effects of TBI in mind.
That capoeira head kick made me feel physically sick, like I had clicked on the wrong gif on reddit. The video is honestly excellent, but gleeful depictions of people getting seriously injured is not what I watch Polygon content for.

Considering Spider-Man has enough physical strength to bench press a building and always pulls his punches against non-powered enemies, his Capoeira style moves make a -lot- of sense if you consider that maybe he doesn't put his strength behind those strikes, instead allowing just the centrifugal force to provide the energy of the blows.

-spiderman doesnt always have the strength. -
meanwhile, spidey in canon can lift 50 times his body weight, and is easily strong enough to rip limbs off of human beings on a whim. he uses fluid motions because he needs to pull his punches for fear of turning criminals into meat juice with one punch.

Late comment, but this was a very very cool video, if Pat wants to do more of this, all of the characters in the Arkham series have very distinctive fighting styles that would probably make for a fascinating exercise to dissect.

4: 43 I mean, he doesn't use the strength to do so, but he totally could. He's constantly holding back and pulling his punches when fighting so he doesn't kill anyone outright.
Mostly.

From every Spider-Man game I-ve played, Peter seems to fight like a Pro Wrestler or a MMA Fighter. I know in the comics he-s learned Martial Arts from other heroes like Black Widow, Captain America, & Iron Fist.

Spider man dances while fighting. Considering the fact that being annoying to his enemies is Spidey-s style, I love how he fights liek he-s dancing while cracking jokes (Or quips, you can say)

When I was playing spider man I noticed the technics are capoeira because my friend trains that martial arts, I've seen the performance before without using the internet.

Spider Man should use Muay Thai IMO, solely because it's known as -The Art of Eight Limbs- due to the employment of elbow and knee strikes. Or maybe I just like puns too much.

Capoeira is badass because the dance like movement is there to teach how to dodge gunfire by moving sideways (remember 19th century guns werent automatics) smart and cool.

Spiderman also poses like that because he sells the pictures of himself.
He needs to look stylistic and attention grabbing so he can sell the photos

Since you did Spider-Man. You guys should totally do Silver Sable because Spider-Man states that she just might be the best pure fighter he's ever seen.
