Spider-Man's Twin Towers aren't an intentional easter egg - but they are a fascinating lesson in how video games create the illusion of reflections. Check out the clip that started the conversation And Digital Foundry's in-depth graphics breakdown

So much hater-aid. Just respect it for what it is. A while ago in Vegas, a street artist in Downtown made painting using spray paint art made a painting of Spiderman looking at the financial district. Anyway since I couldn't buy it I took a picture of it. When I looked at the pic I must have caught a glare or something cuz in my pic it looked like one of the Towers had smoke coming out of it. Weirdest thing ever. I still have it

Why would they supposedly put a reflection of the twin towers a mile away from where they once stood? Plus, this reflection doesnt even align with the correct direction the towers were. none of it adds up and if this really was supposed to be an easter egg, it would have been so inaccurate, that it would just be disrespectful more than anything.

I don't care much for the artifact. I know that may sound rude in this context but is it too much to ask for real reflections in a game that costs 80 dollars at launch? I expect that they can at least grasp that reflections are important enough to do right. This method is outdated.

It's pretty funny how this is not an Easter egg. It's a missed opportunity, but it's even more impressive how it's actually a failed reflection of the buildings your climbing as spiderman. Very trippy, but they should definitely add the Twin Towers as an actual Easter egg.

I think it was a accidental tribute like the glitch was there and then people said that it was the twin towers so they kept it in and I have proof because they patched some glitches but not the twin towers thing
Edit: I missed some word

What I don't like is that The Freedom Tower is built wrong & it's in the wrong place. I also don't like that they didn't include the 911 memorial with the waterfalls where the original Towers stood.
reply

2: 50 I do know that the tour guide is a civil and non-offensive way of nodding to one of the most pivotal points in our history, but come on, Freedom Tower isn-t even a Landmark in the game.
reply

What if the developers put it in there cause maybe they knew or were related to the victims of 9/11 and they wanted to honor them somehow? That would be the greatest thing ever. NEVER FORGET!
reply

I am debating amongst myself whether a 9/11 game should be made where you play as 3 different characters with 4 different stories: Poloce Officer, Fireman, Medic, and a Civilian
reply

Even if it wasn't intentional, it's a beautiful accident that pays great tribute to towers that I once stood in the shadows of. Amazing game, amazing city.

Old World Trade Center = Pre-9/11 Attacks
Destruction of Old World Trade Center = 9/11 Attacks
New World Trade Center = Post-9/11 Attacks

reply

Who says it's not intentional? I mean someone programmed it that way. They didn't spend years making this game and not know what it looked like.
reply

I wonder if this phenomenon is present, on purpose, in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 which use more advanced graphics and ray tracing perfectly
reply

This was sadly removed in the remastered version - would be a good way to play tribute to the lives lost and the sadness of the day
reply

This is not funny, this is so offensive my uncle died in that event
He was the best pilot in the whole of Saudi Arabia

reply

Recently started playing the game the other day, and disappointed not to see this accidental easter egg there. what a shame.
reply

Honestly it feels like Insomniac was sort of doing a tribute thing to the tragedy or the victims. And it was done perfectly
reply

It would be cool for a Easter egg if spiderman did a wire walk between the twin towers just like philippe petit did.
reply

Anyone else just randomly wondering if the towers were in either Spider-Man PS4 or Miles Morales, in 2021? --
reply

Damn, 20 years on but that's pretty a good sort of easter egg if that's even intentional at all. It is ghostly.
reply

tho the reflection looks like the towers, in real life they stood near where the one world observatory is today
reply

So Spiderman PS4 is set in an alternate universe where the freedom tower was built differently after the attacks
reply

This I never discovered when I-m playing the game.
Thanks I-m going to play Spider Man if I have time

reply

when i saw that this was true. i paused. I SAW THE TWIN TOWERS IN THE BUILDING I WAS ON! I DIDN-T EVEN KNOW
reply

for some reason the towers in the reflection scare me, because its like they just reappeared out of nowhere
