You could add 100 more on this list and that could probably still not be enough. Most of these artists have recorded many ballads and it's hard to pick one over another. Especially bands like Spandau Ballet with the heartbreaking Through the Barricades. Also you could add the one hit wonder ballad Lover why by Century (many weeks at #1 in french charts in 1985.

Whitney Houston owned it overnight when she covered Greatest Love Of All in '85, what a gal. Now a few have tried it over the years but man, let's face it, Teddy Pendergrass' (HM & the blue notes) If You Don't Know Me By Now (1972) is untouchable. Really.

You almost cry when you listen to this because of the memories, because of the song themselves. Just yesterday in the Super market l listened for the first time in 35 years All throught the Night from Cyndi Lauper, what a masterpiece!

Victims by Culture Club was one of the most underrated ballads to come out of this decade! If it got more promo and was released in more places maybe it could’ve been on here

Definitely I can't chose just a few ones. The most premium vocalist singers were from the 80's so that's the reason why 80's gonna always be the best decade of music ever.

The 80s were hell. The music was always changing. Early 80s was nothing like the mid 80s, the mid 80s was nothing like the late 80s. Most original decade imo.

Great list, but some of these songs (Starship Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now and Survivor I Can't Hold Back) stretch the definition of what a ballad is.
