. One day my mom stopped by and said Oh who is this Poor thing he doesnt look well Thats Scruff. He just showed up so Ive been feeding him. My mom was not put off by his appearance but reached down and gently petted him ( Go Mom. Someone suggested I give him worm medicine because he wasnt putting on weight. So I did.
Shortly after Scruff never returned. I was very distraught I had killed this gentle war torn looking street cat. It really gnawed at me.
Not long after Scruffs disappearance a most regal handsome looking cat showed up with a deep plush pelt of the EXACT SAME color with the most amazing green eyes and super long beautiful fangs that came down over his lower lip. He came and went the EXACT DIRECTION that Scruff had traveled. Scruff had never returned after the worm medicine. I surmised they were from the same litter but it took 1year to slowly earn this new cats trust. Bit by bit he left my porch more slowly and started to come up upon it with hesitation when I would call out Here Kitty Kitty!
One day he crawled away when I came out onto the porch. I was dismayed because I wanted so badly to touch his plushy fur. I called out gently, he hesitated and turned back towards my house. With more gentle cooing he timidly came up to the stairs where I was now sitting. So slowly I reached out and gently scratched him behind an ear. Voila! This big brute literally fell over with ecstasy. The magic finally happened!
I named him Apache Tear ( after the stone and the Indian folklore) because of his pelt being a gun metal blue with a second pelt of a lighter shade. Apache and I became hardcore steadfast companions for almost 20yrs.
Last year at a garden center I was telling my story to a Native American about my 2cats, Scruff and Apache. I was amazed when Harley looked at me straight in the eyes and commented. Those were not two different cats. That was Shape-shifting. Apache came to you as Scruff to test you. To see how strong and compassionate your human heart was. You passed the test. Then Apache showed up as his true self to become your Protector and Spirit Guide. It was no accident. He chose you
I actually have a birthmark on my arm that looks exactly like a CAT pawprint and the same size too. I am blessed to be marked.

This reminds me of my dog angel, she had no fur and was eaten up by fleas and abused by her previous owner it’s been 5 years and she is the most happiest dog I’ve ever seen and I love her to death
