16-Year-Old Dog Steals Her Foster Dad's Heart Ruff Life With Lee Asher When I lived in Los Angeles I would have our regular dog park but sometimes we went to one that was on the mountain between the valley and LA. (Think of the dance in La La Land) There was a nice pavilion for getting out of the sun and the dogs would snooze after a nice walk. I met a woman there. I am sure she is a famous actress but I never got the knack of recognizing anyone out of context. She always came with three older dogs. She said she could afford their vet bills and when one passed away, she just went to the shelter and adopted another dog no one wanted because of their age. Her description of them was just plain LOVE. She had a van and they took road trips and a great life. My dogs are now older and I think of her pack, their bond and the fun they were having in doggie old age.

I adopted a Maltese at 17 who lived til 19. I only had her 2 years, but I literally loved her as much as my son. Adopting old dogs is expensive, but they are the best! Just love seeing them flourish once they realize they are home and going to spend their last days being loved, eating good and having fun at the park with the pack! I hope Mickey has several more years in her! She is a really cool dog!

I got a love this guy. He really does care about the dogs. If I saw that face and knew that 16 years have passed in their life I would be heartbroken because I would just want to put out all the softest beds and wet, kibble and canned food until the inevitable. He really does care.

My Mimi had a Pom a couple years back and she was my best friend over there but sadly she died without me by her side and by the time I got back to my Mimi’s house she was dead for a month and I broke my heart that she wasn’t by my side anymore more

I honestly believe that the decision to surrender this dog wasn't made lightly. It must have been really hard to have to give up this amazing dog. Just seeing this short video made me fall in love. It must have been incredibly difficult to part ways.

I loved this video. Then I later saw that she died. This is the reason I never replaced my little dog when she died 10 years ago. I am still reeling and will never get over her. No one will ever fill her little furry paws. RIP, Mickey.

I’m echoing another message left in the comments section of another video involving another dog adopted by the same gentleman and it said he is a saint. Well said because this is the third video I have seen of his adoptions in two days! Wow

The real villain is the woman that left the old guy with six dogs. I don’t get the feeling that the guy wanted six dogs but that she did. I may be projecting because I always want more dogs but I’m projecting.

If you hadn't said you were keeping little Mickey/Pom Poms, I was going to ask you if I could have her. She is the cutest and sooooo lucky, because she now has you, Lee.
Thank you very much for taking her in.

I grew up with a Pom and he was awesome! We would play hide & seek and we would race in our back yard! He hated sweaters though. If we put one on him he would actually pout until it was taken off.

You are such a wonderful soul. You probably feel you are just doing your part for these pups, but your impact is grand. What you do for these fur babies doesn't change their lives. You give them a life.

When you are accepted for who you are, is proud of you, respects you, wants nothing material from you, supports you and is scared to lose you. then you have someone who loves you. 5: 38

Pom Poms. Mickey didn't stick. reminds me so much of my Pomchi (Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. He's already 15 years old and means everything to me. I cant imagine my life without him.

Pom poms are the best, I’ve had many dogs but my Pom is the most affectionate of them all. She’s pure black which isn’t common. Lee is a true hero.

Does this man own every stray animal in the U. S. Every 5th video about adopting a stray / rescuing an animal is this guy and a dog, or maybe a goat.

I have felt the same way with my rescues. I don’t know how anyone could give them up. I know that I sure never could.
