You released him in the most humane way, slowly and near the territory where he was raised (your house.
I recently had horrible neighbors who got a thrill from baiting and capturing wildlife in our neighborhood. After keeping the terrified animal in a cage overnight (without food or water) to show off to their friends, they would dump the animals illegally at the Columbia Slough in NE Portland. I haven't seen ANY wildlife at my house for a few years. Scary people.

We had the same thing happen at the marina I used to work at. A squirrel built a nest out of lifejackets that it tore up and when we put the boat in the water for the first time that season we discovered the nest. We nursed the critters till they were full grown and then one of the guys took em home. They were cool pets, they would sit on our shoulder while we worked.

Unfortunately, in England, grey squirrels are considered vermin. There are people who love them and feed them in parks, and there are people whose job it is to cull them because of their voracious breeding. Our red squirrel population has all but died because of them. Can't deny how bloody cute they are though
reply

That is how its done. esp when kids are watching. Special formula is available at pet stores and most vet stores, in terms of squirrel nutrition, youd have to visit a pet specialist, pharmacy compounder, or a chemist to get the right milk (this is how we manage our own livestock and pets w/o a vet on hand.

Sooo adorable! After the SoCal rain in 2022-23, our park was overrun by hundreds of squirrels! We’d sit on the floor and feed the ducks uncooked corn kernels, and tons of adult and baby squirrels would walk up to us, pop as many kernels in their cheeks, and run off. Soooo cute!

I remember when we let our Shirley squirrel go, i cried for a couple of days but she came back a few days later to get food and she moved literally across from us. when we had to move. i was bawling because i was so worried about her and to this day i think about her

A long time ago my cat had kittens and I found a new born squirrel. So I put them together and she accepted him. After he was raised, I gave him to a lady who fed and kept squirrels in her yard. i knew my other cats would eat him. he's living his life w her.

That's so cool he decided to build his nest on your property. He still feels most secure near you. Even though you don't see him, he sees you from way up in the trees. They can see excellent too. So remember when you go outside he is likely watching you guys.

My rescue was released, but like Acorn, he didn't go far. He'd still come back for handouts every now and then. One day, he showed up with his mate. Months later, he returned with his mate and active offspring. Living the life of both worlds.

My heart is a flamed with warmth. That is exactly the way we do with our children! We have them, we nurture them we love them and then time to go on your onw. Does not always works that way. Thank you Acorn and Chris
reply

Of course with a name like Chris, you'd be that guy, someone who helps when needed, send to right those who have fallen, human or squirrel, great lesson for the kids, awesome job, putting acorn back in nature! Well done!

All its takes is a little bit of heart. Look at the bond that can be made with something most people have disgust toward. Just shows how many ignorant, heartless people there is in the world.
reply

I find them I keep each one in a separate box I feed them peanut butter honey and dry Similac mix with a tip of water and warm in a separate box
Siblings rival and won't eat together

Just wanna say what a good person and great father you are my mom used to always say you learn a lot about a person on how they treat animals. Keep up the good work

What kind of milk formula did you feed him I tried powdered milk for puppies and it didn’t go over well and then I read something about goats milk.
reply

It restores my faith in humanity, when I see wise and kind people like Chris having children and being parents. You're a good man and we need more of you's!

I like how acorn seemed to understand when he told him no don't jump on me, your a wild squirrel, he stops looks around and is like ok fine. 2: 05

reply

Thanks for making me cry lol I wish every human was this kind to wildlife, like this beautiful soul is! Ugh the world would be a much better place Ty
reply

I found and raised a baby squirrel and he already had fur like this one did. When they are furred out your chances of their survival are much better.

I love the fact a tough guy, hat on backwards, all black, scary uses words like adorable. He truly is a great dad to his kids and acorn.
reply

So there is still compassion and love. Nothing more beautiful as a big, masculine man and a small, helpless baby (human or animal.
reply

He grew up moved out and built his own home next to his dad’s. This can be a great animated movie plot. Such a cute story
