It's not the pitbull that is a killer and unsafe, it's the human training it. The reason why pitbulls have gotten the horrible reputation that they have is because of the human training them. If you train a dog from the time they're a puppy, no matter what breed the chances of it attacking anyone are almost zero. But again, use your judgment first before considering adopting an animal including taking your own personal situation into consideration. I've seen so many instances over the past 30 plus years where animals have been abandoned because the owners could not properly take care of them. It bothers me greatly that Pit Bulls get such a horrible reputation for being mean and evil and violent, not considering the human that was violent, mean and evil that made the dog act that way in the first place.

From the background past. thats also why pitty got a bad reputation, because of jerk owners who abused them in so many ways just because theyre said too kind and soft, making some of pitties grew aggresive. sick ppl. Pitties are nice and friendly dog too, the bad and mean status they got is not natural, its from bad owners.

Very pathetic and sad we preach equality and to not judge others by looks but somehow it only extends to the human race. We've really got to get it together a little better, don't we Thank you for those of you that do care, educate others, seek to understand, are open minded and stand up for those that cannot speak for themselves. Kudos.

We had a staffie. He'd sit on your lap and crush your femurs or try and drown you in slobbery dog kisses. He tried hunting a squirrel once, he made such a rumble getting there that the squirrel had plenty of time to finish it's lunch and scamper up a tree. Powerful, heavy dogs but with the mindset of a teddy bear. Adorable.

I had a staffie - Chow Chow mix. She was the sweetest girl in the world. She too was abused as a pup for the same reasons. She was so greatful to have a loving home, her own couch and a sister dog. It still breaks my heart we lost her to cancer 6 months ago, but I'll be forever greatful for having her in my life.

Being from the UK i find that most laws made under the banner public protection are began by a few stories in newspapers and people thinking my god, all these vicious dogs. But most of the time its the same story repeated. Newspapers are still believed to to be truthful in the UK. So wrong. It's RACISM.

Back2Basic see I had a doberman Charlie that I didn't want neighbors to fear him being looser in Yard so his first learning toy was a five gallon bucket so he pranced along in Yard besides Ladies power walking to stay in the Yard so he Heard Thank you! Neighbors thanked him too!

It's humans that make dogs bad, it doe not matter what breed of dog it is, I've known Golden Retriever's to be nasty towards people, so in my view saying a dog is bad because it's a Staffy or Pit bull is rubbish.

UK resident here, dogs are not put down for looking a certain way. The breed is determined and assessed and only then, if necessary will a dog be terminated.
