Wild Lorikeet Brings Girlfriend to Meet Human Mom Soulmates i have one called squawky friendlier then most others likes to land on me, brings his flock mates under the veranda in wet weather to stay dry. he got himself a girlfriend hed bring her around, but the best moment was when they had a baby as soon as it could learn to fly they both bought the baby to meet us and you could tell they were so proud of their baby, And we were genuinely happy to meet the new baby and happy for them. theyve had more babies every year since and they always introduce them when they 1st learn to fly.

my crow friend makes different sounds for different things, he has a vocabulary of 5 or 6 sounds and 3 body language communications. I have a crow vocabulary of three; I will get your food now, i will get your toys now and 'let's fly' He loves to fly along and swoop and squawk when i ride my bicycle, he loves to play with children's learning toys, french fries and belly rubs. He brings me presents, anything that's shiny that he can carry. BTW, crows can carry quite a bit of weight in their beaks

Lorikeets are wonderful. Only downside is one of maintenance. They've squirt watery poop everywhere because of their natural diet.
Your situation is great, because he's not a pet. Just a wild friend come to visit. So, he's spraying his watery poop mostly out there where mother nature takes care of it.

Bee don’t stop! This is a beautiful friendship between a human and nature. When it happens organically it’s like magic. Personally I think birds are filthy but his added bonus is he takes himself out at night so no cleaning a cage. What a bonus!

That was an awesome video, thanks for sharing. You have a great backyard and fortunate to live near so many birds. Reminds me about a book I read when I was a kid called Living with Birds by Len Howard.
reply

Those birds are just biding their time then. POW. They get you. Remember boys and girls everything in Australia wants to kill you. That is what they tell me on the internet, so it must be true!
reply

This is the perfect way to have a Lorikeet pet because it's so much high maintenance with all the specific nectar food and stuff, so this way it just goes around eating then goes back to you. Kudos.

I am wondering if Elvis is an escaped pet.
He was very quick to trust a person for a wild bird.
Either way, I am glad that he got the help he needed, when he needed it.

she's so sweet. i dont think many ppl would let a bird sleep on their chest for 2 hours like that lol no wonder she earned their love
reply

Id maybe put together a safety box for him to hide in if it was ever needed but its nice that he knows he has a home and freedom
reply

I suspect he was someone's pet that escaped hence why he was having a rough time in the wild, good to see he found a flock.

I have a 2 month old female rainbow lorikeet and she bites so much she even bit the cover of my iPad for no reason

To develop such a bonding with a wild bird is astonishing in itself.
This shows her great love for animals.

that is the best way to have a pet they go back in nature and comes back to you instead of being caged all day
reply

Think he saw you and just fell in love. Doesn't his head bobbing indicating that he considers you his partner
reply

Australia has some of the most beautiful (and also some of the most terrifying) species on the planet
reply

So wonderful that she understood that he needed a flock, and didnt cage him. He lives a beautiful life
reply

Did he have a prior owner that released him into the wild His behavior is really odd for a wild parrot.
