Little girl grows up with two 16-foot pythons and has tea parties with them People already putting their two cents in. heres mine, 20 years experience. Supervision is key with large snakes. Its not so much the disposition of the animal that is a threat to the owner but the sheer mass and strength. Assuming the father watches over the child as he should in every other scenario, theres no problem. The animal should know the difference between feeding time and handling time, they can be taught that much. Beyond that its simple responsibility of the owner to recognise when the animal is becoming too much to physically handle, and a second set of hands is always required with snakes over 10 feet just to help remove them when they become too much for a single individual to wrestle with. They are not trying to strangle you, they are just very big and very strong animals.

I'm an animal lover. But this is the type of thing that is delusional. Reptiles do NOT have mammal nurturing and bonding traits. Reptiles can become accustomed to their living situations because all life has to fight to survive and live. But it doesn't mean they love you. They don't have the capacity to do so. Reptiles lack the brain development for complex emotion.
They are conditioned by handling them with caution and care and to perceive and connect their human handlers as their source of meals which can make them relaxed for say.
Wild and exotic animals should never be pets. Unless they are injured and cannot survive on their own I can understand if they are rescued and cared for in these situations. Otherwise I'm completely against it.
Whoever argues otherwise is foolish and puts themselves and others at risk of avoidable harm.
Leave wildlife in their natural habitats.
Quit coddling the concept that it's possible to have some special ability to connect and bond with these animals.
I respect these creatures by letting them be who they are. Not as house pets.

They both seem to really enjoy and like her. They are not stressed out. They are looking and crawling over her and she is never left alone with them. That’s the danger. He knows what he is doing. He made sure they were tame and handled every day. She doesn’t feed them. The horror stories come from snakes getting out and going into cribs or taking pets. That’s not going to happen as long as he’s there. He would never put his daughter in danger. My vet had a 200 pound python that grew up with his children. He kept her at the clinic but the kids handed it all the time. By the. Time the kids were grown the snake was humongous. It’s good to see this. Oh. My vet also had a lion named Radar.

6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,

and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.

For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD

Amazing retics but animals of that size can be dangerous. Thats not to say that they will bite and attack or whatever. But if one of them decides to it could result in death. I am a boa breeder and have had burms, anacondas etc. Burms can make great pets. But a animal past 10ft will easily overpower a kid. One at 14ft could overpower a man and a little kid. I know plenty of breeders who breed/ keep bigger animals like burms and retics and they won't interact with them unless they have another man with them. Snakes are extremely intelligent and so misunderstanding. But animals that reach 10ft plus can be a problem.

Yes yes YES!
Snakes are such amazing animals, if raised right and handled gently. What is shown here is what these animals are actually like. Calm, curious, and docile. When not in food mode and not needing to fight for their life, there is no chance you'll ever be bit.
Now, not everyone should seek out reticulated pythons or big snakes like these, as they can be a lot to handle, especially for one person, but when done right, this kind of gentle demeanor is their norm.
I love this. The owner did an incredible job with raising these animals, and his children to be respectful of them.

I had a snake for 12 years, and i loved it. HOWEVER, if i'm being completely honest, I don't believe these animals and capable of love. Many times my snake would seem to love going up my arm and lying in my lap, which is adorable until you realise cold blooded reptiles will basically sit wherever there is a source of heat. I'm never noticed it seeking out being pet by me. I'm sure that if my snake were 10x its size, and one day it got hungry enough, it would try to eat me. I'm sorry to fellow snake enthusiasts, but again i doubt these creatures are capable of love or affection

I mean, its great he supervises her and all, but at that snake's size, has he actually gameplanned what he'd do in an emergency If that thing begins constrict on her, is he prepared to. Do what Take a knife to its head A hammer Even if he saves his daughter, will she not have been traumatized from the emergency plus dad's fix to the emergency Plus, what does feeding look like to a snake that large It's one thing if it's a chameleon or bearded dragon and it's just eating insects, but this snake is enormous and must have an enormous appetite. Wow.

Really sad the misinformation on snakes by some people in the comments like you see a little girl with a big dog and theres no problem but if its a snake oh he dosent care about her he just wants to eat her.
And it always comes from people who have never bothered to interact with these beautiful animals.
Its all about how the owner handles them, same thing with any animal. If anything a dog is way more unpredictable than captive snakes which will give you a bunch of signals before it tries anything

Snakes at best TOLERATE human interaction. they do not bond with their human handlers/owners as a cat or a dog would. and they are a very poor choice to have as pet. They are natural predators and their brain lacks the 'area' for 'emotional bonding'. they can however learn to 'trust'. lowering their anxiety levels. This is a very tight rope people walk, because the slightest action that will break that trust, can turn your 'snake pet' into an aggressive animal.

A man bandaged and nursed a snake back to good health that was found frozen on a side of the road. . They lived harmoniously together for a spell. Then, one day out of the blue, the snake bit the man. Devastated, the man emotionally said, I picked you up, nursed you back to health, fed and clothed you, and you bit me. Is this the thanks that I get The snake politely answered and said, You knew that I was a snake when you picked me up!

I know form experiance this is a bad take. There's a reason thousands of these pets ended up in the everglades. When they get old, they get cranky, and they get confused, just like us. They'll do something that makes you a little apprehensive, then you reduce contact to the point that you're just tossing a few chickens a week to a 100 pound preditor. A mistake in timing when this eventuality occurs is all it takes for a tragedy.

A good mate of mine had a large boa, and made the mistake of making a quick lurch toward it to catch something he accidently dropped. The snake acted in self-defence and struck him between the eyes. Two black-eyes and a broken nose later, he was forced to find it another home, as it became more and more aggressive. naturally. So, always being calm and caring is definitely the way to be. Beautiful creatures for sure!

A scorpion asks a frog to carry it across a river. The frog hesitates, afraid of being stung, but the scorpion argues that if it did so, they would both drown. Considering this, the frog agrees, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When the frog asks the scorpion why, the scorpion replies that it was in its nature to do so.

That’s cool, she is absolutely in no danger. This guy knows what he’s doing, if you keep them fed they will be content. Some snakes are just mean but if you raise them from a baby and handle them, they usually won’t be mean. They will actually look forward to interacting with you. You can clearly see this, in these snakes.

Anyone who thinks that this child is in no danger is wrong. Dead wrong. If her father gets distracted, or any other number of things that could go wrong does go wrong
All this father has to do is make one mistake, and this becomes a tragedy. I hope to be wrong, and she stays safe.

An animal definitely shows that it is loved. There was a story about an Alligator named Pacho who was saved by a man in the jungles and that alligator became his friend for 20 years. They’d swim together in the water and even snuggle face to face. It is a really great story.
reply

I think it's wonderful that your daughter has been raised with them and they are her friends. She seems to enjoy caressing them and they are beautiful.
But the whole time I was watching I was shuddering internally. Snakes truly give me the creeps. Massive shudder.

Anyone seen theonion about the boy and the 20-foot python This brought me right back to it. It's that moment you can't possibly prepare for. Just love your kids every day. Cause you never know when God is going to invite them up to heaven though your snake. lol
