if you are in a colder region or air conditioner is keeping the house cool then probably your bf body is more warmer than yours. That can be a reason for the cat to choose him over you. He should keep monitoring about diabetes. Usually higher blood glucose levels keep the body warmer. If the cat sleep with one particular person and ignore others than that person might have higher blood glucose levels.
It is not necessarily true but can be a possibility.

I genuinely love animals but cats are seem very interested in me.
When my friends and I went to Europe I was the only one that had street cats following me around, rubbing on my legs.

One of my exes cats was like this. When I went to his place for the first time she literally jumped up on one end of the couch and walked over him to get to me and lay in my lap. And after that she was only interested in me and never him (it made him so mad that I could take her and put her in his lap and she'd immediately jump down and run after me just to always be with me. When we broke up I kept them all for obvious reasons.

He had been with me from the age of 7 to my 25th. I am 45 and I constantly remember him.

He will move his aching bones over to the sofa and jump up in my lap and I have to pet him and stroke and him and tell him he is a pretty cat and a GOOD cat. My friends just look at me, saying, HE ALMOST NEVER DOES THAT WITH US! I just reply, Cat's dig me.

One of our dogs is like that too. She was initially our daughters but became ours and now he is her world. I have to beg for love from her. I do the walkies, treats, etc but he is like my daughters twin and she only has eyes for him. If I’m lucky she will ask for a belly rub

I bet it’s a man thing. Male cat, male boyfriend. But in the end you’re Maple’s mom. My two are close with me but my girl is closer so it must be a girl thing. It took two months before my boy finally gave his approval of me.

I think that is something to do with his scent, or the mix of hormones he emits compared to his girlfriend. Cats' olfactory senses are 20 times more sensitive than ours, and the cat simply enjoys his scent more than hers.

I can relate. My cat Ace is totally in love with my daughter. He spend most of his time hanging out with my daughter in her room. Ace is very vocal with my daughter.
