1: 42 Vito needs LONG walks that stimulate his mind as much as they exercise his body. I don't think being left at home alone bothers him quite in the way you imagine. It's not necessarily the solitude that's troubling him, but the lack of physical activity, mental stimulation & opportunities to explore.
He needs variety, adventure, unfamiliar surroundings, different landscapes, smells, sounds & experiences. Take him on LONG walks through woods, fields, parks & other environments that engage his senses and give him something genuinely fulfilling to do.
In short, Vito needs more than companionship and a comfortable home. He needs an interesting, active & stimulating life. I think you're unintentionally depriving him of much of what makes life rewarding for a dog. You're not giving him enough life to live.

It's futile to argue. My pup did that when I went to choose from the litter and Mika choosing me was the BEST decision he could have made for both of us.

My now 11 year old puppy chose me by bringing me a toilet paper roll to play with. It was tough choosing from 8 puppies back then, but the choice was clear from that moment on.

Every dog that we had we just picked it out and brought it home from the farmers house then we took it to the vet for it's shots and that was it. It was our dog.
