Voldemort cared only about himself. He was pompous, shallow, self-centered, and melodramatica real drama queen, if I may put it so. Grindelwald, on the other hand, had much broader and higher aspirations, a true vision. He was an idealist who could think and plan things for the whole world.
Voldemort never managed (or even tried) to expand his influence and rule outside the British Isles. The best he did was conquer the British Ministry of Magic. On the contrary, Grindelwald waged a global wizarding warat least, he became a world power. Also, the latters rule lasted longer: from the mid 00s or 10s to 1945, compared to Voldemorts 14 years (1 year of real power.
Voldemort was literally, utterly and completely evil. He never felt any kind of affection for anyone or anything (including his own wand and Nagini) and failed to feel any remorse for what he did. He was almost a caricature, a stereotypical villain. Grindelwald was a far more complex and multi-layered character; he could feel and think much more spherically and profoundly. He had good intentions and real emotions, and managed to realize the severity of the crimes he had committed. Never forget he captivated Dumbledore himself, who could read Tom Riddle like an open bookyes, Dumbledore was younger then, but he was a genius anyway.
Voldemort never truly understood magic, human nature and the world. He constantly underestimated what he couldnt understandand also couldnt understand what he underestimated. He thoughtfor no good reason save his melodramaticismthat creating seven Horcruxes would make him all-powerful without bothering delving into their true nature. He also failed pathetically to grasp the meaning of Lilys sacrifice as well as the true character of the Elder Wand, which led to his downfall. Grindelwald knew more about magic (theres so much you dont understand, he told Voldemort) and was probably wise enough to know that staying alive thanks to a Horcrux is worse than death. He wanted to acquire the Hallows, not to make Horcruxeswhich is considered by Harry to be a far wiser decision. Grindelwald also understood people better, including Dumbledore.
Voldemort was, deep down, a coward; he feared Dumbledore and, most importantly, death. Grindelwald faced his own death with rare dignity and couragehe laughed at Voldemorts face. Even if he feared Dumbledore long ago, he was certainly braver than Voldemort.
Grindelwald gave Dumbledore the fight of his lifeas a matter of fact, their duel is said to be the best and most impressive the world has ever seen. Yes, he was wielding the Elder Wand at that time, but even Dumbledore admitted they were almost equals. On the contrary, Voldemort was, more or less, humiliated by a much older Dumbledore during their own duel; Dumbledore fought him easily and calmly, without ever losing control. He knew he couldnt defeat Voldemort because of the prophesy, but showed his proficiency and his skills.

also we do know who voldemorts mother is her name is Marope Guant she was inlove with Tom Riddle. Sr though he did not love her she enchanted him for years when she lifted this enchantment he ran away from her wile she was pregnant with her (first born) she then dies giving birth to him last words (i hope he looks like his father) seeing as she was very un pretty and tom riddle was very handsome Voldemort didn't need to learn Oclomancy he was already one of the best but the best was Snape Voldemort made a number of his own spells and was very good at hand magic and from a young age could do many things he also you quoted something very wrong Harry only asked if he knew then. I would be in the Tom Riddle Jr. doesnt follow anyone camp. Their objectives and methods were quite different. Grendelwald wanted to rule for the greater good; misguided and obsessive, manipulative and clandestine (which is how Voldemort operates as well, he obviously connected to Dumbledore in a way Voldemort could never connect with anyone (unless you count Nagini, which I dont; he uses her as a minion like everyone else, until it was a threat to himself. I would term Grendelwald as a fanatic with borderline antisocial behaviour; Voldemort is a true psychopath, with an objective to conquer all (including death) with a God complex/narcissism, meaning only his personal wellbeing/victory mattered. If anything, Voldemort would recruit any leavings and/or subvert them from Grendelwalds campaign.

Sociopaths don't have a lack of empathy, they are able to show empathy but it usually becomes a sort of anger, and can turn into aggression more often. Psychopaths are less dangerous because they don't plan things out, they just do what they want to. Sociopaths think more about what they want and how they will get it, and how things will work when they take action. This means that grindelwald would have been more powerful, he was better at being able to manipulate people emotionally than voldemort, who just scared people into following him or paid them for it

you keep talking about purebloods. but neither gridelwald or voldemort cared about blood purity. purebloods were just the easiest to manipulate. grindelwald wanted all wizards to rule the world. not just purebloods. he wanted to rule over muggles entirely. voldemort on the otherhand wanted to conquer every one and everything. he wanted to rule over death itself. he was concerned about blood purity only because it made him look stronger. but he would allow anyone to follow him so long as they were loyal and useful to him.

As far as I think gridelwald is much skilled duelist comparing to Voldemor. Voldemor simply like to kill one by one. gridelwald fought 20 aurors (very trained mages) with no problem. When Dumbldor said to harry that he was just little bit better than gridelwald, that's true. gridelwald never was true master of elderwand. They fought with their skills alone. Read the books how dumbldor fought voldemor, totally different from movie.

Dumbledore stomped them both but for now I'll consider Voldemort the more evil dark wizard and Grindelwald the more powerful dark wizard considering he had the most epic duel with Dumbledore in his prime while Voldy got his ass kicked by old Dumbledore.

I love the way they parallel eachother, voldemort controlled people with fear and threats, but grindelwald controlled people with promises of freedom and love. Thats at least what ive congleaned from the FB movies so far.
