In the real folktale of mulan, mulan had been trained by her father to fight, learning Kung fu, and how to use a sword, as well as encouraging her to join the war. She had been away from her family for 12 years and during then revealed her gender, no one actually minded that she was a women, and even became a general in the war. There was a love interest in the tale, but no one knows what actually happened to them. One version said she came home and her father was dead, yet another she came home with a gift of a horse that she had received after battling for 12 years. So Disney kinda portrayed thjs movie more accurate but there there could be lots of changed mostly with the being a women part, and the matching making asset. Btw everyone leaving hate comments, please know the origin story before and respect the ancient story that is centuries old.

This live action is more based of the original story, and the story has been passed down for generations in Chinese culture, so ya good that Disney is kinda of respecting the origin story. It is a good way to teach people about the story, even though if you read the tale its nothing like any of the Disney Mulan movies. If you want to know the actual story there was a movie made in 2009 that tells more accurately the story, although its all in Chinese. so everyone leaving hate comments about how they changed the movie so much, dont and instead please respect Chinese culture and this heroines story

First of all, I cant stand how the narrator of this video is severely opinionated, and is seeming to speak for ALL of us. Like we dont all agree or share the same thoughts. Secondly, do not care about the comic relief not being in this film. Im all for a more authentic story, with a bit of supernatural/mythology mixed in. Mushu and the cricket wouldve made no sense live-action. I wish people would chill out about it already damn. This movie looks amazing regardless. The only thing I wish it had were the songs, but I can live without them.

It looks meant to be more a Wuxia inspired and I'm glad for that I'm half Chinese. Looks like those Chinese Costumes Drama I saw with my Grandparents when I was little. Also Mulan never needed to cut her hair in the animated version since men also had long hair at the time.

I'am going to watch the movie for bossible cool looking martial arts and fighting scenes in 3D. Missing the music is maybe saddest thing cos songs are really good in Disney version Mushu comes the second.

Im just. gonna pretend that this movie isnt Mulan and move along. Im already disappointed. If I wanted to watch a Chinese movie. there are already so many.

Two thing,
1. This movie without Shang is a crime.
2. Mulan look nothing like Mulan in in the Disney version. Idk, it just bothered me a bit.

I dont really mind that they cut some characters and decided to not have music since it makes it seem more like the actual story in Chinese folklore.

I liked the animated feature, but I think this is gonna be good too. Taking out the songs will give them more time to tell them detailed story.
reply

I kinda don't want it to be just like the animated one, because it really isn't accurate at all. The new one is more like the Chinese folktale.
