Why You'll Never Watch The Mulan Live Action The Same Way After This Video! The liveaction remake of Disneys Mulan from 1998 is one of the 2020 movies thats getting its big release on Disney+ rather than in movie theaters. But whats going to be different about this new version, and will you love the changes, or hate them? Were diving deep into the trailers and moviemakers interviews to reveal all the changes with sidebyside comparison stills and scenes from both movies. So you can decide whether you prefer the look of the original or the remake. Consider this a cinematic before and after, but without the guarantee that the after will be better! Youll want to hear how Mushu the dragon is reinvented in the remake, and just what has happened to Li Shang. Prepare to be dazzled by Donnie Yens martial arts skills and Jason Scott Lees shirtless moment. Well show you how Bori Khan is the new Shan Yu, plus what to expect from the new female villain fierce makeup and all. Theres a falcon link, a phoenix addition, and all kinds of subtle switch outs that only megafans will have noticed. Fa Mulan loses one family member but gains another, and gets a new love interest in the shape of Chen Honghui discover how the #MeToo movement influenced that decision. Plus find out how Christina Aguilera is involved in the music again, but this time the score is going down a different route. Hit that play button to discover all, and remember to subscribe to TheThings for more great videos like this one

I don't think they should have replaced mushu. They could have brought him back as a real dragon who isn't funny but serious.
From all the Chinese dramas I've watched, bringing mushu as a dragon (one that doesn't talk) could have made it better than a phoenix. Afterall, a dragon is symbolic for both power and Luck and as a female mulan needed luck.
Also, I don't like the fact that Shang got replaced. The real mulan was so gifted in fighting that she ended up leading the army. There's nothing wrong in putting Li Shang in the live-action but not put any romance to it.
Having a sis is fine but replacing the villain with a female witch certainly isn't. It just makes mulan less outstanding as she is no longer the first female warrior. Having mulan defeat a male enemy would prove just how strong she truly was and it would also show equality amg genders. Mulan is supposed to be someone who starts the trend of female being more than just docile housewives.

I wish they would of flushed out the two new villains more for the female villain did not need the male villain but stayed with him even though she could of took over his body and raised her own army, mulan was over powerful and could of won the war without anyone's help so not only was there no real charter building for mulan but she was just way to powerful as a kid, if you where going to have mulan have a sister you should of put her more into the story line besides knowing she was terrified of spiders, Mulans sister could of tried to stop her from going until Mulan explained she had no choice but to go you could of really showed the bond between the two sisters, I would of like to see the phoenix do more, I can say full hearty that this movie would of been so much better if the direction of the movie was more flushed out for so much is missing or out of place.

The second version of the Disney film of mulan 2020 is a lot different from the original Disney film of Mulan 1998, because the story is all wrong and some of the characters that I know from the original Disney film of Mulan 1998 weren't there in the new version or change their names. To be honest this new version of feels like a drame movie rather having adventure and some funny scenes liked the original Disney film of Mulan 1998, that's why everything are so wrong in this version of mulan 2020.

I watched the animated one to show that I am dedicated to the original one and not the live action.
This is my opinion only.
The animated is perfect and the live action is lacking too much.
I mean. really do you all expect me to watch a movie that lacked out of characters? (I don't like the replacements)
the final battle in the palace in the animated movie is better. because I think that the live action took the scene in a construction site.

The animated movie is a magic adventure, where a woman by herself and her strenght win against the enemies, take her love, with romanticism, fun, comedy and epic moments. The live action is a common action movie, that have only the names and the situations similar to the original, without the magic, and losing all the best of it, with a girl that win cause of the magic powers, and not cause of her own strenght.

I love the director. Respect the Chinese culture, mist and real story.
That's all I want to say
Pls respect their culture. Because Im sad they put least effort for Aladdin to make it real Arabic culture but I won't complain because now they make Asian look real Asian. (I'm Asian amd muslimah)

What are you talking about? We knew all along that the dragon was not going to be in this movie. They told us on day one. Who cares if the dragon is not in the movie? Mulan fans weren't complaining when he didn't show up in Mulan: Rise of the Warrior. So I think their complaining is fake.

Mushu does not appear in the live action remake. Disney made the choice to ensure that the live-action remake stayed true to Chinese culture and traditions. Instead, Disney included a phoenix in the film, which is a sign of peace and prosperity in Chinese culture.

Mulan in the movie is a bio robot and superhero with some inhuman abilities.
Mulan in the cartoon has some development and even though portrys great results it was her logic mostly saving the country, not her super powers.

reply

So they remove Mushu and the songs because its unrealistic, but instead made Mulan a marie sue who jump in the air and kick arrows, it was a big disappointment for me when I saw the movie
