Can You Spot The Differences In The Harry Potter Series Changed In Other Countries? Harry Potter is a global phenomenon, so its no wonder there are tons of different versions of the books in pretty much every language imaginable. But to make the story work in different countries translators had to tweak a few things, like Voldemorts name which was translated into such gems as Elvis and Romeo. These translations are no match for the big changes though, which happened when the UK books got adapted into the massively popular US movies. These adaptations led to huge changes like Sirius having completely different last words, Crookshanks being demoted to a much less important character, and Neville hatching a plan to take down a bridge instead of fighting Snatchers head on like he did in the books! There are definitely some scenes we wish we couldve seen on the big screen, like Hermione working with S. P. E. W. and all seven challenges from Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone which is the US adaptation of the original name, the Philosophers Stone. But other great scenes were added to the movies with no inspiration from the books like Harry confronting Snape at the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione and Harrys comforting dance after Ron left, and Slughorns emotional story about the fish Lily gave him. So, whether you like the changes the way they are or want to imagine an alternate universe of Harry Potter stories, here are some of the major differences between the UK books, US movies, and international translations of our favorite wizarding series. Including: Seven Challenges Sirius Last Words A Sixth Sense The Curse of the Dark Arts Crooked Crookshanks Nevilles Plan Bad Guys Over England The Fastest Train to Hogwarts Snapes Defense Seeds of Doubt Slughorns Tale S. P. E. W Harry and Hermione Dance Weasley's Wizard Wheezes International Edits Throwbacks TheThings: DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC Potterheads: DISNEY CLASSICS TheThings: NEW UPLOADS

Hearing Harry Potter, U. S. and Hollywood said in the same sentence makes me want to vomit. Can Americans please stop claiming credit for the hard work of British people? I know thats like their whole thing but its really starting to get annoying, especially when it comes to TV and Film. Theyll be trying to claim Doctor Who as their own next.
Make your own original stuff. Stop trying to steal ours and stop making vague claims on things that are widely known to be British. Let us have our stuff, damn it.

If your a fan of Harry Potter,
There's 2 things you need to learn.
Harry Potter was a book first.
Harry Potter is British.
If your a PottahHead. you'd be like me and you won't have to explain. You know Harry Potter so much, you don't have to prove it.
Not to brag, (but I love bragging about this xd) but I've READ THE whole series 3 times. I haven't started for the 4th, but I do want to.

In Spanish we had a corrected version of the Philosopher's Stone book.
Neville's frog was changed for a turtle because of the English lady that initially translated our book, then, she was replaced in the rest of the books of the saga with better qualified native Spanish translators and so they changed that error turning back Trevor into a frog in the later editions of the Philosopher's Stone book.

This video is terrible First of all most of these are just books to movies adaptations Has nothing to do with different countries whatsoever Second of all Harry Potter is not made in Hollywood but in the UK Come on bruh this is the least of knowledge you should have I regret clikcing on this video I hope people dont actually believe this crap Even certain storylines with the second troll are false

The movies were British. The actors were 98% British, one guy was not (he was American I think, was filmed in the UK, and took place in UK sites and streets. There was barely any Americanism in the movies at all, it was all British!

Ignoring the many, many, things wrong with this video. If you're going to do differences between the films and books (which is apparently what this is) you probably need more than 15 moments considering how different they are.

The US movie adaptations might be the worst offenders
Proceeds to call it the Sorcerer's stone
Could you perhaps actually read the books next time you're going to make a video like this? Half of it is wrong.

Having the potions challenge missing really annoyed me - because this was a moment for Hermione - they had scenes throughout the movie that weren't as important. that could have been cut. so cutting this never made sense

The harry Potter films were made in the UK and JK Rowling specifically told the filmmakers to chose a cast that are specifically from UK. just wanted to clarify this
