The Making Of Disney's Tarzan From 1999 To 2016 Live Action Remake. Disney's animated Tarzan from 1999 might be the first adaptation that comes to mind when we think of the boy who was raised by apes, but 2016s liveaction version, The Legend of Tarzan, made some pretty good points about the characters origins. Based on the 1912 novel Tarzan and the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, both adaptations change up a lot of things like how the stranded boy loses his parents. But they also have a lot in common, like the jungledweller falling in love with Jane, his love for tree surfing and vine swinging, and his many animal companions. Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie took over the roles of Tarzan and Jane from Tony Goldwyn and Minnie Driver, the talented duo who voiced the Disney version. They bring different energy to the iconic characters, with the liveaction being a much more serious take on the tale Terk and Tantor, the rebellious ape and germaphobic elephant, arent even in this version. But the movie had its reasons and stays closer to the source material than you might think, though that doesnt necessarily mean its a better film. 2016s The Legend of Tarzan isnt a live-action remake of an animated movie made by Disney, but rather a different live-action movie of the source material from Warner Bros!
