Behind The Scenes Of Harry Potter Cast Auditions As Child Stars Hey Potterheads! Today on TheThings were taking a trip back to the year 2000 when the casting for Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone first kicked off. Its hard to believe its been more than two decades since the start of the franchise but even more difficult to believe that the Harry Potter cast we know and love was almost completely different. Were not kidding! The Harry Potter actors have very unconventional casting stories, but we wouldnt have it any other way. From chance meetings at the theatre to casting directors scouring London primary schools its so interesting to hear these actors individuals stories. And a little startling to find out that some of the cast members werent the first choice for their roles. Were pretty sure youll have a hard time believing how these actors got their roles its wild. Did you know that the Phelps twins had no idea who they were cast as until the first day on set? Or that Tom Felton originally auditioned for two other roles before landing Draco Malfoy? Well be covering almost the entire cast from Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson all the way to Alan Rickman, Tom Felton, and Helena Bonham Carter. The paths to getting the cast we see on our screens today may have been unconventional but we wouldnt have it any other way. What audition story did you find the most interesting? What ever happened to people who do things like voice work describing, oh, say, this video, having to pronounce words correctly? For example, the word Didn't. It is a contraction. It's two words connected by an apostrophe. It IS NOT the word DIDENT. It is neither spelled that way, nor pronounced that way.

I liked Emmas and Ruperts auditions because I just like Hermione in general, and Emma really fit that, even though she was really pretty. And the rap was just hysterical. I want to see the original one so bad!

I met Helena Bonham Carter when i was a baby. She complemented me and my brother (who was a baby at the time, too). my and my brother were like in a store with our mum and dad

I actually had the opportunity to meet Matthew Lewis a couple of years ago at a convention. I had my Philosopher's Stone book with me, and he signed it! I still own it too.
