If were talking about shows / movies like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, of corse they will cast older actors because no ones going to be comfortable with a young actor portraying sone of those scenes. Theres a reason they aged the characters up in A Game Of Thrones (Daenerys was 13 in the books.
But you also have Disney and Nick where the actors are closer to their characters ages or other shows like The Baby-sitters club

This is video is a bit unnecessary because it is very rare that teens play teens and I think the reason is that you have more rights and opportunities if you work with adults. and tbh I dont think playing a 17 or 19 year old in your 20s is completely fine for me. I think its weird to present Robert Pattinson or Tom Holland because 20 or 22 is not very shocking to me.
