Today were looking at some of the painful prosthetics, makeup, and costumes the cast of Disneys liveaction Mulan had to endure while filming. Inspired by the 1998 animated classic, Mulan is the latest adaptation of the legendary fable from Chinese culture, following a young woman named Mulan, who in order to save her ailing father, disguises herself as a man and joins the Imperial Army, having to battle the northern invaders in China. Makeup artist Denise Kum and costumedesigner Bina Diegler had their work cut out for them when working on the blockbuster and oftentimes the actors had to bare through feeling uncomfortable in order for the costumes to look aesthetically pleasing. Characters like Li Gongs villainous witch Xianniang and Jason Scott Lees brutish Bori Khan required lots of prosthetics that took hours to apply. The makeup for the Betrothal scene was so thick that it was hard for the actors on set to form facial expressions. Li Gong would have several of her prosthetic work done right before she had to arrive on set, since she wouldnt be able to use her hands much once they were applied. Liu Yifei had to bear through the heavy layers of the iconic red robe during many of the films key battle sequences. The level of commitment from both the stylists, designers, and actors make the latest incarnation of Mulan, all the more admirable. So lets get down to business and look at the painful prosthetics and costumes in Disneys Mulan!

I also wish that people didnt have to labeled this Mulan as a perfect Mary Sue just cuz they think she was born with her Kung Fu, which I feel she was just well trained as a little kid just like in the ballad
Plus the makeup on her does make sense when people have been criticizing about her having fewer emotions

Xianniang is by far the best character from all D remakes. I adore her costumes & makeup, and I wish we got to see more of that gold variation from throne room (yes its different than her warrior outfit)
