Ever since it debuted in theaters in December of 2009, James Camerons science fiction epic Avatar, has become a cultural phenomenon, it kickstarted the trend of 3D movies and is still the highest grossing movie of all time at the worldwide box office (though it was briefly unseated by Avengers: Endgame. The film is set in the future and follows Jake Sully, an injured former Marine who is recruited for a mission on the alien planet of Pandora. He soon is transported into the body of one of the NaVi and forms a close relationship with one of the NaVi whose name is Neytiri. From romance, action, suspense, and science fiction, Avatar has it all. Even eleven years after the films original release the CGI still holds up magnificently and there was clearly a lot of work that went into making the film. From all the motioncapture technology for the human actors to portray the NaVi (and even mocap for the films animal actors, as well as building the films extensive sets digitally and physically, there was clearly a lot that went into making Avatar look as beautiful as it does. From NaVi tribal dances, to kisses, creating both beast and machine, and performing out of this world stunts, Cameron and his team clearly went the extra mile when bringing Avatar to life. There is really no question why the film has become so big in the pop culture landscape and with the several sequels on the horizon, its footprint is about to get even larger

the thing i have an issue with most is the fire. how does fire work there? we already know there is little or no oxygen on pandora due to the facy that you cant brethe without dying. we also know that fire needs oxygen to work, so how does fire work on pandora? the only way i think it could work is by it being a completely different property thats simular to plasma that uses different compounds to operate.

I wonder why they took long for the sequel I had heard avatar did great in sales and all. I wonder if it was same as first as sequel might be more advanced and need more cgi so he waited yet again tech and software and experience in the field is very advanced now I guess they may wanted to make it look better than first avatar as I hear they're filming more than one sequel at same time.

It's unbelieveble to see the actors in an empty room and all have to show emotions like love, sadness, badness etc. That's totally crazy, but wonderfull. Avatar is one of my favorite films. I like science fictions. But the work behind the scenes is so fantastic. Everybody of the whole crew has to get the Oscar. It's so amazing. The actors are greatfull. I enjoy the next Avatar.

okay zoe, I need you to come with me to hawaii and walk around half naked, uh, for the movie, you know, the cgi. I would explain it further, but its a lot of technical mumbo jumbo, I wont waste your time with the specifics - james cameron explaining his totally legit and absolutely not at all self-serving storyboarding method to an actor

Aliens, Ghost Busters, Titanic, Avatar, Terminator, True Lies, The Abyss. All these are some of my most favorite movies of all time and they are still awesome to watch a hundred times more. James Cameron (And Michael bay) is arguably the best movie director I've known since my childhood.

This is pure talent. The imagination of entire community a planet the eco system and living creatures therein. Can Bollywood ever do this? Not in this life. Impossible to even think anyone able to do this. Execute something like this.

Honestly, it looks like acting for James Cameron is an amazing job. He seems to truly care about the actors experience and how that transfers to the realism of their performance.

Also, the methid of making love is VERY SIMILAR (it's the same) to the method of taming less intelligent creatures.

Insanely impressive how these people can act so well with something like a red tennis ball attacking them
