Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows CGI Breakdown

The world of Harry Potter is a combination of excellent writing, spoton directing, performances we fall in love with over and over again, and of course CGI that brings creatures and images we never could have imagined to life! Some scenes required very technical and detailed CGI when the Seven Potters were in town, you can bet special effects we brought in and were responsible for the faces we see. Sometimes dark filming conditions came in handy since the CG team was able to remove certain parts of images without even needing to cover up very much. When Rowena Ravenclaw floated into the scene, she was filming everything solo acting opposite a large red x instead of Daniel Radcliffe. Nagini is terrifying on screen, but she wound up being pretty creepy on set as well in the form of two human arms! Dementors might actually be beautiful if they werent so terrifying their CG design is intricate and is built from the skeleton up. Voldemort brings lots of Dementorlike vibes himself, only with his face being captured separately. Speaking of that face remember when it dissolves away? Ralph Fiennes made a pretty great face for the cameras, but CG animation was key to making it look so haunting. The attack on Hogwarts is full of CG from making the giants look large in comparison to everything else, to fully animating the statue soldiers protecting their school. Then, of course, the famous duel The team was on a practical set, but CG was still used for the background and all the wand light magic! The CG is beyond impressive and helps to build the world so convincingly, making us even more obsessed with the saga!
