I've said it before on last years box office bombs list and I'll say it again. Not ALL OF THESE FILMS are outright bad, in fact, some of them are actually ok or pretty good. I mean, just look at Blue Beetle's critical reception. It's just that they didn't quite make back their budget.
There can be a multitude of reasons as to why some films (even good ones) can end up bombing at the box office. Bad publicity or marketing, ill-advised release dates, bad word-of-mouth amongst the public, behind the scenes controversy that made people abandon it out of principle, or it ended up being overshadowed by other films. And yeah, a lot of cult classics fit the bill as well. Donnie Darko, Dredd, The Iron Giant, even films we regard as masterpieces like Blade Runner and The Shawshank Redemption were box office bombs. And the sad part is that some of the films on this list got rotten tomato scores that would suggest ok, servicable, average, or even content. And yet, Hollywood's and people's definition of success was so far above what many would consider passable that what would seem like an adequate film to most went down as flops in their eyes. Something similar also happened with Capcom during their dark period, before they realized that making something good was more important than just selling more.

Ant-man and the wasp Quantumania live up to its high, but it failed to give us character development. Also, the MODOCK CGI was ugly.
The marvel, where do we start there easy no one was interested in all trio of women, but even though villain was also forgettable there s a good reason why that guardians of the Galaxy volume three lived up to its height as probably the best MCU film of 2023 God loved the guardians.

The only hero that can save the DCEU/DCU is Batman because The Batman performed well, & nearly every other Batman movie has done well. THEN Gunn should do a Superman movie & later either a Martian Manhunter movie or a Mr. Terrific one. Next should come a film with Jason Mamoa's Lobo followed by a Green Lantern Corp. series initially released to streaming on HBO Max & then put on DVD/Blu-ray.

I really liked Renfield, Last Voyage of the Demeter, Flash was good because of the nostalgia of Michael Keaton as Batman and showing the different Supermans with Christopher Reeves.
Expendables 4 was ok as Megan Fox s role was not needed at all. It should have followed up with the original Expendables along with 3rd Expendables that had Rhonda Rousey and Kellan Lutz.

I can't believe they failed so miserably with Ant-Man 3.
Absolute travesty.
The MCU is a far cry from what it was between 2008 -2019, for sure. I don't even feel invested in the characters I know anymore, like Quill or Thor or Dr Strange, nevermind the absolute torrent of new uninteresting characters introduced in later years.
Too bad.

I actually loved some of these movies of 2023, like Quantumania, Blue Beetle, The Marvels, and Haunted Mansion. I actually enjoyed them, and they didn t deserve to flop.
As for Dial of Destiny, I think it s better if Indiana Jones story ended with The Last Crusade.
But the Flash needed to flop. We really don t want to see Ezra Miller again.

Stating the obvious, but a really bad year for superhero movies, with the exception of Across the Spiderverse.
Also, the reason that Dial of Destiny bombed wasn't so much Harrison's age. it was a lackluster script and the fact that Phoebe Waller-Bridge was god awful in it. So freaking annoying in every scene!

Bigger budgets don't make bigger profits. This is a lesson that movie studios need to learn. Look at Five Nights at Freddy's and Godzilla Minus One. Those movies had a fraction of the budget the films here did and still made a massive profit. Granted, they also gave the fans what they wanted, but still.

Most movies are ruined. Diversity >>>> Plot and character development. I am not racist, but for the love of god. just make movies. Hell Black Panther was a great movie because it stuck to what works. Forcing politics into movies and focusing on that and not the story. makes movies fail.

I saw some of these just cause they seemed intresting for me to see at the time they came out. I think Mission Impossable part 2 will be a hit and fast X part 2 would have been good to see next year but I can wait another to make sure they have all of the points of the movie ironed out.

Amazing video watch mojo of movies that bombed in 2023, fantastic job. I really like Eddy Murphy the haunted mansion but Disney haunted mansion was disappointing to me because it s trying so hard to be something that not good and don t know what it s want to be too.

I feel like I've been saying this all along: if Ant-Man 3 just went in a darker direction like Infinity War people would have been so much more interested in seeing more of the same. More of the same isn't going to get more butts into those seats

I still can't believe that Blue Beetle had the lowest box office money of all the DCEU movies even though it was a decent. It's just weird that it isn't Suicide Squad, The Flash, or any bad DCEU movie with the lowest box office

Keep in mind people these are box office bombs. It does not mean they are bad films. Air was great, but unfortunately bombed most likely due to poor marketing and being released the same week as the Mario Bros movie.

Basically it's time to say enough of superhero movies with characters that nobody cares, nobody knows or nobody is interested to watch like The Marvels, Blue Bettle, Shazam, The Flash, Quantumania or Aquaman 2

The reason why many of the superhero films on this list bombed were not because of the quality of the respective films, but because no one wanted to support the problematic actors (Ezra Miller, Jonathan Majors.

I believe the upcoming Deadpool 3 will save the box office in 2024. Considering the recent bad reputation of superhero movies, the humour style of the Deadpool movies can work this into their advantage.

I honestly really liked The Marvels. I understand why it didn t work for a lot of people, but it s the most fun I ve had with an MCU project in years (note that the most fun I ve had =/= the most good )
