Definitely missing many others, and a few of these I can only say I really only love 3-4 songs, but this pretty much sums it up for me as far personal favorite albums. I feel like, in order to actually love an album, you should at least love about a third of it, and perhaps like the rest. It's extremely rare that I find an album where I honestly love every song front to back.

Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell should have made the list. Ridiculously underrated, this album has sold 14 million in the U. S. alone. That's three million more than Sgt. Pepper. Worldwide it has sold more than 43 million copies. And is considered the biggest selling debut album in UK history. It's also the fourth longest charting UK album behind: Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon and Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory.

A relatively conventional list, but I can't argue that all titles mentioned are worth being there. Additionally, this is very much a best POP (as in popular which includes rock, hip-hop, and country) albums of all time since there is no jazz or classical. I'd put John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, Miles Davis's Kind of Blue and Charlie Parker's With Strings on a more comprehensive Best Albums list.

Ask 100 people and you'll get 100 different opinions. My Favorites, Dark Side of the Moon, number 1 always, Led Zeppelin 4, The Wall, Revolver, Sgt Pepper's, Bridge over Troubled Waters, Who's Next, Thriller, Joshua Tree, Brothers in Arms, Harvest, Atlantic Crossing, Parallel Lines, Wuthering Heights, Imagine, Band on the Run, Cosmo's Factory, Pet Sounds, Out of Time, OK Computer.

Pretty good list. You need another list though cause you missed Bjork Homogenic, Tupac All Eyez On Me ( the first rap double album. Cmon, Nas Ilmmatic, Beastie Boy Ill Communication, Beyonce Lemonade, Mary J Blige What s the 411, Outcast Speaker Boxxx/The Love Below and there are few others. I realize there are a lot of hiphop albums in here. Maybe do a hiphop greatest albums?
reply

Prince's best album is Sign of the Times
Bowie is WAY to low!
The list is about 60%
Nirvana way too high.
How do you not have Exile on Main Street or Sticky Fingers (and have Biggie?
How can you not have Who's Next or Quadrophrenia (and have Wu Tang.
If you want to put hip-hop: Midnight Marauders, Paid in Full or It Takes A Nation of Millions.

You forgot to include Chicago 17. Peter Cetera's final album with Chicago. A stratospherically chart topping sendoff with nearly all of the songs being absolutely killer tracks. The MTV sensation Stay the Night, Peter Cetera's filthiest bassline intro on Only You, and we can't forget the worldwide chart topping You're The Inspiration and Hard Habit to Break.

There are some great albums that would have felt right at home on this list:
- Exile on Main St. by The Rolling Stones (or a few other Stones albums)
- Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel
- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
- Come On Over by Shania Twain
- OK Computer by Radiohead
- Ram by Paul McCartney

This is cool list. Lots of diversity for sure. Music is of course subjective and everyone's own list would certainly differ significantly from this one. With that said, How on earth is a masterpiece that is Purple Rain so far behind a prison concert that no one is still listening to in 2023? Anyways, The Beatles at #1 put a smile on my face.
reply

Sgt Peppers is probably the most overrated album of all time. John, George and Ringo don t even like that album, just Paul. Abbey Road and Revolver are more impactful, influential and important in my opinion.
Also Joni Mitchell s flowers are long overdue. Thank you for giving her 8
Also should ve had Radiohead and Kanye West

reply

No Dylan, no Stones and no other incredible alternative albums like Ok Computer, Doolittle, or Remain in Light makes this list laughable and feeling like a popularity contest rather than judging actually substance. This should be a 100 list not a top 20. Also Led Zeppelin 4 and 2 are superior to their debut.
reply

No recent album in the list, that's a good point. Never Heard of Joni Mitchell. But some classics like Bat out or hell, Master of Puppets or Appetite for Destruction should have been on the list. And personnaly two of my alltime favorites: Agents of Fortune and Spectres from the Blue Oyster Cult.
reply

Illmatic is better than 36 Chambers and Ready To Die. Lmao.
Best rap albums of all time are: Illmatic, To Pimp A Butterfly, The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, MBDTF etc.
My top 5 albums: ILLMATIC, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY, REASONABLE DOUBT, and MBDTF.

I love old school R and B. And I've always been able to pinpoint Thriller as the moment when MOST of it gets WAY TOO POPPY for me! Not only was Michael Jackson a pedo, but imo, he more or less RUINED what was once a GREAT genre of music! F--K Thriller!
reply

Some other fantastic albums include:
The Joshua Tree - U2
TPAB - Kendrick Lamar
Basically any album by Kanye West
Discovery - Daft Punk
Currents - Tame Impala
Illmatic - Nas
Me Against The World - 2pac
The Doors - the Doors

reply

I grew up in the 80s and Micheal Jackson, Debbie Gibson, Madonna were our favorite artists and still are. We LOVE Thriller! It is still one of our favorite albums ever. The MVs were great too! Still iconic to this day and is so timeless.

Damn this list is so bad. Now let me reveal real one. Top 5.
5. Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
4. Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
3. Evanescence - Fallen
2. Adele - 21
1. Christina Aguilera - Stripped
You re welcome!

reply

There are around 10+ unrealased tracks that didn't make the cut in the Thriller album. Even tho they'd be consider as demo they are almost if not fully completed songs. My favourite are Hot Street and What a lovely way to go, Chicago 1945
