Top 10 Overhyped Anime That Did NOT Deliver

So much build up for such little payoff. Join Ashley as we look over the anticipated anime that flopped on arrival, including series such as Digimon, Berserk, One Punch Man, and more! Which of these anime do you consider a let down I am beginning to think Ashley knows nothing about anime, Devil is a part timer season 2 is great it is following the LN prettey well, Sheild hero season 2 is terrific as well as One Punch Man season 2. The one that really disappointed me was In Another World with my Smartphone season 2 where it seemed like they was rushing to introduce all of his future wives and skipped out lot of important details, and characters. Not to mention they skipped over one of the LN that was a big turning point for him.

compared to berserk(which is the most horrible of this list as it's presentation is just ugly/really feels like outside the original anime the series is sadly cursed being kept from continuing, promised neverland(that crammed too much into a unsatisfying ending when the 1st was rather good) or god of high school(that to me was the most overhyped with how bare it is outside the animation as fight's can't carry an entire series without character.
i liked one punch man season 2 for garou(past the animation do feel it repeats villains/saitama became the weakest part of the series when you make a character really powerful compared to the others especially later on with who returned) & yasahime(inuyasha's tbh average compared to the creators other works and if anything think the leads could've been different/change some veteran characters reveals.

Digimon Tri was good but there are 3 things I did have a problem with.
1. Why didn’t they address the absence of the season 2 team at the start. Tai and the others acted like they weren’t around anymore.
2. Were Nishijima and Himekawa really killed off
3. Meicoomon’s fate, I get they had to destroy Meicoomon because, but Digimon can’t truly die they just get reconfigured. So when she is reborn she should’ve been cured, right Unless she died in the real world in which case she can’t be reborn, but from what it looked like they were kinda in between the worlds so it is hard to tell. A better ending would’ve been Meiko revealing to the others that Meicoomon had been reborn and is now virus free. I like to hope she was reborn.

I usually agree with your guys' opinions and the orders of the lists n such but guys berserk deserves way more credit than you guys gave it IMHO, I love berserk, has been one of my favorites through the years becof it'd dark grittyness, but then again, where's bleach in this list. I followed bleach for so loong and then the ending after everything
everything was just infuriating
, it's like the creators simply Ean out obf time then flipped a coin t o see which ending they were going with. it made no sense c. Bleach has got to be the biggest L since. oh I don't know. dragon ball Z with its infinite story line

Tokyo Ghoul, Promised Neverland, the rising of the shield hero, One punch man first season was good, and second season came out it was horrible and that the season either was rush out of the gate like Promised Neverland literally the last scene are just picture that how bad it is and they don't care about the second season that when anime second season come out soon after the first season I always know the anime going suck

Pokemon Journeys is a good example. A Pokemon anime set in all 8 regions and giving Ash some Pokemon fans wanted him to get for some time Sign me up! However Ash’s cotagonist Goh eating up so much screen time, the focus being practically non existent, and SEVERAL multi-week breaks pretty much killed the hype for what ended up being Ash’s final series as the protagonist and made it look like a poorly written fan fiction.

Where is Attack on titan final season part 1 The most hyped anime season ever, developed by the supposed greatest studio of our times, mappa, and it was a barely animated slideshow, without a single memorable action scene, with overused osts, and blurred so much you rarely got any sense of place with the backgrounds being barely visible. Its got a gorgeous artstyle though, the best in any anime for me personally

Season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul to me was just bad. I hated the anime only direction which made no sense. And disappointed in Digimon Tri for not erasing that bad ending of 2. Yashahime is one not yet watched but still hyped to do so one day. I liked All 3/three seasons of Rising of Shield Hero. Berserk 2016 anime was bad. not good at all. Promised Neverland season 2 was just a big pile of crap.

7: 32 The weird thing about this is that the 3D aspect worked so much better for cartoons in the late 2000's like _Iron Man: Armored Adventures, _ an American creation made to profit off of the first _Iron Man_ movie's success, and it all worked for anime like _Kengan Ashura_ as well. I honestly can't tell what went wrong with the animation in the _Berserk_ continuation here.

English-dub wise, I think Yasahime got snakebitten when Kirby Morrow died during production.
And I still think the reason why season 2 of The Promised Neverland was what it was, was because of the pandemic. The producers took a look at the reports and said, Well, the world's gonna end anyway. Let's cram what we were planning for season 3 into season 2 and call it a career.

- Yashahime: had potential given it's a sequel. the deal breaker came when Rin had a child with Sesshomaru.
- Shaman King (2021): maybe it's because it's a direct adaptation of the manga w/c i haven't read. yet
- Digimon Ghost Game: not overhyped, but the show fell flat as the show progressed. at least the show had nightmare fuel potential.

There were rumors of Madhouse getting the rights to the berserk anime. Can you imagine how GOD TIER that would be If only I'd lose my mind. Still the greatest manga of all time it deserves a real anime adaptation that is done extremely well. The og 90s anime is phenomenal, I just want a continuation and not some CG junk.

My biggest disappointments were Eureka Seven AO and Basilisk: the Ouka Ninja scrolls. I loved the two originals but the sequels were entirely unnecessary and bad.
Also, Shield Hero started to go bad at the end of season 1, so I had low expectations for season 2, and it still blew me away with how bad it was.

Man I was hype for GoH and then they skipped alot and inserted all the fighting. They also changed some things in the anime like what the wrist bands show and alot of funny bits. After about 4 episodes I couldn't watch the rest no substance. Also rip Noblesse anime as well both should of gotten more episodes.

Digimon Adventure Tri for me was meh. I grew up watching the original when it first aired. So I was excited to see how the Digidestined were. Honestly, nostalgia was the main factor for me to watch it It was also super rushed plotwise. But I understand it was movies and not a complete series.

I will never recover from the disappointment that was the season two of Vinland saga and promised neverland. and for whoever dares to defend Vinland saga. I was watching for the fights and the exciting scenes. the life of a farmer who wouldn’t fight no matter what wasn’t appealing to me at all.

Would say medabots season 3 could fall into this now. dont get me wrong. it's still good, but with a change in studio and almost all of the supporting characters from season 1 and 2, never showing up and the lame reason why the medaforce doesn't work on killobots are the problems i have with it
reply

You will pardon me if I respectfully disagree with you about season 2 of The Rising of the Shield Hero. I honestly liked where it went in a lot of ways. And please don't say that's because you haven't seen season 1. No I've seen it and liked it too. I like both seasons a lot.

I'm surprised Boruto isn't on the list as it's arguably considered a disappointing sequel to Naruto. Especially how badly they nerfed and butchered certain characters from the original. Not helping that the new cast are not as memorable or interesting compared to the original cast.
