Gonna be brutally honest. I do NOT agree with Dark: Apokalips War's placement on this list.
And, by that, I mean I don't agree with it being on this list at all.
It was basically just shocking character death after shocking character death until it wasn’t shocking anymore and just a wait on the inevitable.
And the fact Swamp Thing fell to Darkseid's forces feels like a serious insult to the character that it leaves a horrible taste in the mouth.
Then, after everything is said and done, after even Raven and Robin get their kinda happily ever after with Raven freed from Trigon's darkness forever and the chance their relationship could finally have it's true start. their entire universe is wiped out as Flash creates another Flashpoint.
But the final nail in the coffin, what sallies the movie to a rotten after-taste
Constantine, the guy who literally had to give up heaven, something he'd lived for YEARS thinking he'd never get to and resigned himself to the knowledge he'd eventually go to Hell. gets punished by being turned into the equivalent of Pariah and becomes a homeless bun who exists simultaneously in every universe destined to die at the hands of the Anti-Monitor and doesn’t even have the sweet release of death to look forward to, literally saying to the Injustice Syndicate that he's tried to die several times, but can't.
Screw Dark: Apokalips War.
Not only doesn't it belong on this list, it doesn't even deserve to exist as a movie

The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & 2 is great. They don't try to alter the story to surprise viewers or as an attempt to stand apart as its own animal, remaining very faithful to the Frank Miller story. I do like how they expand on the Batman vs. Superman fight in the finale of Part 2 to make it more exciting and add more meat to the scene. Batman using a wrecking ball and the rollers from a pair of steamrollers as boxing gloves is incredibly badass. Honestly, it's a more impressive fight than the similar scene in BvS. TDKR's director Jay Oliva actually worked as the storyboard artist on BvS, so he had a direct creative hand in both cinematic brawls between Batman and Superman.

This is why I prefer marvel over DC I just love their characters more. One of my favorite DC animated movies is Batman Under The Red Hood the story is heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time and it really questions Batman’s no killing rule. My other favorite is Flashpoint Paradox because it shows a version of the heroes like we’ve never seen them before and reverse flash is menacing yet also charismatic in the film I like it.

I would swap Batman vs Robin vs Son of Batman where Batman says you do it because it's right and that's all you need epic line.
I would also swap Death of Superman for Superman Doomsday. The music is just too on point in each fight sequence.
Superman/Batman Public Enemies would be my number 1. That was my best friend and you just killed him. FYI don't miss off Superman or you'll get knocked across the world.

Here are the 10 Best in My Opinion
10. Teen Titans Go! Vs Teen Titans
9. Batman vs Two Face
8. Batman: The Long Halloween
7. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
6. Batman: Under the Red Hood
5. The Death of Superman
4. Batman Beyond Return of the Joker
3. Justice League Dark Apokolips War
2. Batman: Mask of the phantasm
1. Justice League the Flashpoint Paradox

While I can't argue over the top spot (the greatest Batman story EVER) There's a couple missing here; Justice League: War where the JL has an epic series of battles against Darkseid and the excellent Justice League: The New Frontier which explores the Silver Age era JLA's origins and the event which brings them together. I also would rate Doom much higher.

1 Batman Mask of the Phantasm
2 Superman vs Elite
3 Batman Beyond Return of The Joker

5 Dark Knight Returns

Once, my mom was selected to go to a special meeting for 1st responders. Turns out it was an advanced screening of the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie. When she told me that was what the meeting was (we were both LE dispatchers at the time, so I knew there was a meeting, I asked her how was the movie. She said, First Flight was way better

I feel like your #3 and #4 should have been #1 and #2 respectively, but it's good to see these movies get some recognition, they're mostly fantastic. I like to imagine a world where DC got a clue 15 years ago and got the teams behind these movies to do their cinematic universe. They would have actually rivalled the MCU had they done that.

Okay, no, seriously, how is Dark: Apokalips War not only 7th on this list, let alone at all, but not The Batman vs Dracula
That is messed up that that train wreck ends up on this and THAT high up on it, but The Batman vs Dracula doesn't even get an honourable mention

reply

Justice League Dark Apokolips War shouldn't be on the list. It's in no way a good movie. It ruined an entire continuity by making it pointless. Itself also being pointless. Was unnecessarily cruel and gory. It film was a slap in the face. A terrible movie from every side.

Justice League Dark only gets a throwaway mention
Really
And Throne Of Atlantis doesn't even get an honorable mention
And personally, Red Hood wasn't all that great, in my opinion.
Would have put it closer to bottom. and had Flashpoint as #1

reply

Honorable Mentions:
- Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero
- The Batman VS. Dracula
- Deathstroke: Knights & Dragon
- Batman: The Long Halloween
- Batman VS. TMNT
- Superman Unbound
- Teen Titans: The Judas Contract

You forgot Batman Gotham By Gaslight. It's a great adaptation of the comic.
And I also like Justice League x RWBY: Superheroes and Huntsmen parts 12. I know it's not for everyone but it's fun for fans of both media's.

reply

Not a fan of:
Superman vs the elite
Superman unchained
All star Superman
Batman both gas lamp films
Batman year one
Both wonder woman films
The newer death of Superman films
The first one was better

reply

I loved deathstroke knights and dragons super badass and I like the dc animated movies with shiva in them cause that's my wife and deathstroke as well because he's too cool and a badass character.
reply

The DC animated universe was the equivalent to the Marvel Cinematic universe, if not better. The only exception I can think of is the Spectacular Spider-Man, that show was incredible!
reply

Damn notice how to this day there isnt even close to a top ten marvel animation films that compares
. maybe three at best none if u dont include the spideyverse crap

reply

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is my favorite, Darkseid's rampage in Smallville is chilling especially since he had Supes on the ropes before Kara's intervention.
reply

DC works so much better and easier Animated than in Live Action.
And the only DC character that works in both Animation and Live Action is Batman.
