There are different definitions of success. Just because many of these actors/actresses did not score another high profile role like the one that launched them into the public eye, DOES NOT MEAN their careers tanked.
As WatchMojo acknowledged throughout this video, many of these people still have active careers and are still in the business as of today.
The definition of a career tanking is when the roles dry up and no one is returning your calls or hiring you anymore. That doesn't apply to many of the people on this list.
It's more accurate to say that they have not had another career high like they did when they stepped away from these roles but labelling them as unsuccessful is a stretch.

Actors and actress that quit the show before it even finished can had trouble getting into a new series. Show creators want the actors and actress to stay as long as possible until the series ended. Hearing stories like this will hurt actors and actress being cast on a new show. Some had good excuses for leaving the show like Charisma Carpenter because of Joss. Others wants to moved to do other things like appear in movies. Or they were completely jerks to work with and they don't want to hired them for their on going series.

MacLean Stevenson said hee realizes later that people loved Henry Blake, not MacLean Stevenson. I read that he and Wayne Roger’s quit because they didn’t agree with the last episode before departing of Hawkeye getting away with punching Burns in the face, which would never happen in real life. Noticed they were both gone in the next episode. 2 main characters don’t leave a major show just for fun or I want to try something new’

McLean Stevenson had one of the best characters on M. A. S. H. & I hated to see him leave. Favorite quote, during a cold spell someone took parts of the desk in his office for firewood and his reaction -. I know, but to cut off a man's legs and steal his drawers.
This may be apocryphal but according to TV legend, he pissed off the producer(s) by leaving so they killed off his character thus ensuring that he would never return.

Half the cast of The Walking Dead could be on here. They've had some success stories, as actors like Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira, Jon Bernthal, Michael Rooker, and Sonequa Martin-Green have had their share of success after they left the show. Then you have actors like Laurie Holden, Chandler Riggs, Sarah Wayne Callies, David Morrissey, and even arguably Andrew Lincoln himself, who haven't had much success since the show.

Charlie Sheen was a major star before 2 1/2 Men. Dear lord, people knew who he was right from the get go because of his dad. I think WatchMojo needs to reshuffle their staff. They have too many genuises working there who think history started when they were hatched or when the internet was invented.

Another Star Trek one. After 6 seasons of being Jadzia Dax on DS9, Terry Ferrell left over money to be a side character on Ted Danson's sitcom at the time. Her character and that show were forgettable and she never did anything meaningful again that I am aware off.

Disappointed that Topher Grace was left out of this list. Even if he kept a steady stream of roles since leaving That 70s Show, he hardly got any roles that were significantly popular enough to bring him back into the fame he had before leaving the show.

Charlie Sheen may have been a big star before Two and a Half Men. But AFTER the show, nobody wanted to work with him. However, he had a good stint on Anger Management, which didn't last long.

Shelley Long also had hits when she played Carol Brady in the Brady Bunch movies in the 90s
Her leaving Cheers was a blessing in disguise. Kirstie Alley character gave the show new life

People are failing to understand this video. Nobody said anything bad about their careers BEFORE. The video clearly says their careers AFTER they left their shows

No mention of Anthony Edwards as Goose in Top Gun And Charisma Carpenter cameod on Burn Notice and was instrumental in the apprehension of kidnappers.

Isn’t the first guy the dad from Pet Semetary II and then the next person is the mom from Pet Semetary. Random but I found interesting lol

Perhaps the next Top 10 could be about actors who thrived once they quit their respective shows George Clooney from ER comes to mind. Cheers.

I can't remember her name off hand but she was part of the original cast of Criminal Minds. Ellie, I think her character's name was.

My 100% support of Gay Rights, doesn't counter
. the narrator sounds like he's the Master of Ceremonies for the Gay Men's Choir.

Errr. Sorry, but 2 and half Men did not make Charlie Sheen famous. He have already achieved significant fame well before that!

How can you not include Harry Hamlin. He left the Emmy winning LA Law for greener pastures and hasn’t been heard from since!
