When the tv series Burn Notice was on, I remember someone telling me that she refused to watch it because it starred Jeffrey Donovan. Donovan was JJ Jones in Changling and she said because of that she would always hate him. I said Dont you understand that actors pretend to be somebody they are not When Billy Drago, who was known for playing villains, passed; Bruce Campbell (they worked together on Brisco County Jr) said he was the nicest guy you could ever meet! If you hate an actor for a role, you really dont get it. I am not an actor and I get it.

I’d say only 1-5% of Star Wars fans attacked and were racist towards Kelly-Marie Tran. Unacceptable yes but that’s the way things are today, there’s always a few toxic trolls with any franchise.
The issue was her terrible character and terrible arc which fans criticised. Unfortunately, those 1-5% got the most attention and the whole fandom were perceived as racist, like how Disney and LucasFilm perceive all male fans in Star Wars to be racist and misogynistic today.

The way i see it, if an actor is so perfectly cast and manages to embody a character so well that they draw hatred, thats the mark of excellence. That being said, it's fine to hate a character. but grow up and realise the person behind that character is just playing a role. No one deserves that hate. Also, you forgot Ahmed Best (jar jar binks) the guy got so much hate he contemplated suicide.

Rose wasn't hated for being Asian. She was hated because she's a third wheel and feels like she only exists to lecture the audience.
Also because she prevented Finn from going out in a blaze of glory and kissed him suddenly even though the movie had never indicated their relationship was beyond professional.

I don’t think Kelly Tran got hate for being Asian, she got hate for her character being annoying and the throw in love interest for Finn after him and Rey had chemistry after the first movie.
Regardless, she just played the role, it wasn’t her fault how it was written, she didn’t deserve the hate.

I can safely say these actors shouldn't be at fault for playing their characters so convincingly. I mean, overzealous fanboys and fangirls really take the phrase You can't please everyone way, way too far to the point that they make their own fanbase look terrible by association.

Andrew Robinson was a theater actor, and he had such an aversion to guns he could not shoot without blinking. they made that into a character tic.
He went on to play Garak on Star Trek DS9 decades later, and he used his real life claustrophobia to full effect in the role.

I think the Star Wars fan base went too far with the newest actors, harassing them on social media. And the worst part is, Disney didn't do a thing to defend them, this is evident because their roles diminished in later installments, Possibly the saddest case of fan-service

It's really dumb and childish when people hate the actors due to the characters they're playing. The actors did their jobs and played their characters very well being hated but getting hated as a human being just doing their job as an actor is just childish

This is another good but awful example about toxic fandom. These people were chosen to play some of the iconic characters we've ever seen, rather they're good or bad, it was just a performance, and they did not do anything wrong to get that kind of hate.

It's one thing to hate a character in T. V or movies, it's another thing to harass the actor who played them like I used to hate John Goodman cause of the coach he played in REVENGE OF THE NERDS, but I would never have harassed him

It is hard to blame William Atherton. He really is a talented actor. He's just great at playing complete jerks and was perfect for the roles Prof. Hathaway in Real Genius and the scummy reporter in Die Hard.

Hayden Christiansen still gets a ton of hate for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, I get he’s not the greatest actor but the amount of hate he gets feels undeserved.

But the actors aren't hated (besides some mad heads, it's the characters they played. Take Rose Tico from SW TLJ, it's not that people hated yhe actress, it's people hated the character.
