Hairdresser reacts to people trying to dye their black hair to gray/ silver Vanessa: I have never had my hair colored professionally. I have always either done it myself or let a friend do it for me. The one time I let a friend do it. it looked ok until the first time I washed it and then all of the color faded to this nasty pastel grossness. Every time that I have done it myself it turned out absolutely amazing and people always compliment me on it and think I got it done professionally. But no I just make absolutely certain to completely saturate all of my hair so that there are no streaks or patches. Even the time I dyed my hair using Kool-Aid turned out awesome! I never use foil because it's too much work and a hassle to do it myself. Using foil while bleaching always fails for me and leaves my hair patchy. It's better just to saturate all of it and leave it wrapped in plastic for a while. However if I'm doing multiple colors Foil is a must to keep each color separated. Tomorrow will be my first actual professionally done hair dye job. I have been dealing with some stressful stuff recently and decided to spoil myself with a makeover. Now I'll get to see how a real pro does it. LOL

The coconut oil thing has actual science behind it. Coconut oil is one of only two oils known to be able to fully penetrate the the hair. The other one is Argan oil. Only coconut oil though is a chelating agent which means that is able to break down the hard metals found in the bleaching process thereby protecting the hair from as much damage as there would otherwise be. It does have to be done right though. You nee to completely saturate the hair so that it literally soaking in it. Then you need to leave it for a minimum or 4 hours to penetrate the hair. Then you put the bleach right on top of it. This will also protect the scalp and in some cases is known to speed up the bleaching process so minimising damage even more.

It took me one entire month to reach a level 9. But my hair was fried after two months and started to fall off like right at the middle people now think I got a mullet which I honestly hate, but it was over a year ago now and I'm about to cut it short to make it look even.
The only advice I can give to people is, be generous when applying the bleach, and use the help of two mirrors or another person to bleach the back of your head. And yes, bleach does feel weird on your scalp the first time, but it should NEVER hurt.

I'm so irritated. I bleached 3 times, toned, and reached the inside of a banana peel and STILL my hair wouldn't take silver. I then went to a hair stylist a couple weeks laterwho decided itd be a great idea to bleach my platinum blonde hair and basically fried it off my head and it STILL did not take silver. But that chick had yellow hair and got silver life ain't fair bro. It's been a year and I'm still recovering from my hair massacre

I dont understand why people want gray/silver hair just wait until your old af or if you have the genetics that I do you will have gray/silver hair in your 20s and 30s and hate it my doner as I call him he had a full head of gray/silver hair at just 20 years old Im 32 and thankfully my hair has not been that bad but I still have more gray/silver hair then my brother and my sister who are older then me it is the worst

Actually the thing that bothered me most about the first girl is that her roots are still dark and that just kind of destroys the entire look. She has a super weird orangey-yellow to pee green to silver- blue gradient at the end and I hate it!
The guy ended up with a slight purplish tinge to his silver. That is awesome!

Watching these because tomorrow Im going to attempt to bleach my hair from brown to silver Im sorry brad, Ive been watching you for years and know better than to do this but my mental health just doesnt care and I cant afford a hairdresser appointment. The financial crisis here in Australia has been a literal nightmare

Doing as much research as possible before I do a peekaboo type of black and silver hair. One side of my hair has been black box dyed for 3 years, and the other side was red but faded to a yellow blonde ends, orange in the middle, and red still up top. At least if my hair falls off trying to go to silver, it will be hidden.

I imagine Brad has trained his dog to open his office door just for when hes interviewing a potential new employee and asks what toner they think is best and they say T18 Brad just stops talking swivels round in his chair. they hear the dog open and the dog is just stood there holding it open

I still cringe thinking about bleaching my hair when I was in 7th grade, it was so yellow and my mom wasn't aware of toner so it was piss yellow! The worst part is that the color and Karen haircut are forever immortalised because I ended up with my picture in the paper in color lmao

I actually prefer to do my front and hairline first. My hair doesnt lift super fast and it would always be yellow starting from the back. Great tip and definitely do it this way the first couple times but dont be afraid to do what works best for you: )

I disagree that coconut oil makes no difference. It's no barrier against the bleach, it protects the scalp and my hair doesn't get as damaged, for sure. I've tested it sooo much. Coconut oil applied after bleaching can solve stretchy hair, too.

I think coconut oil helps when you already have lightened hair and you don't want to get bleach on it while doing a root touch up and rinsing the hair. And you don't have to be so worried that you accidentally get bleach on the blonde parts!
