David Bowie actually pronounced it BO-ee, like a bow tie. But he named himself after the Bowie knife, but that is actually pronounced BOO-ee. I only know this because I watched an interview with him a long time ago and they discussed his name and why he chose it. (He just thought it was cool to be named after a BIG knife because he thought it sounded tough. No great story, sorry) In the US there were arguments about which was correct, BO-ee, or BOO-ee, but nobody ever argued for bow, as in to bow down. I really like this design, but I don't know how well it would go over in the US. (And why no eyes, nose or mouth? I know Kirsty is talented enough to make it a good likeness) Not that Americans didn't adore Bowie. It's because the lightning bolt as an emblem has been appropriated by white supremacists. Every white guy who was sent to prison when he was under 40 in the last 20 years probably has a few lightning bolt tattoos and a swastika, or a dozen. It's not necessarily their _choice. _ It's because the white supremacists FORCE them to join and beat them mercilessly if they see them even just talking to anyone who isn't white. If the beating doesn't persuade them, they will get shived (a shiv is an improvised knife) or perhaps killed outright. White supremacists in prisons don't take no for an answer if they want a certain man in their clique.

Hey Kirsty would really appreciate your advice please. I am just starting out in the nail industry and am a busy mum of 4. I am finding it difficult to drum in custom and therefore not being able to get my practise in. should I just advertise to do nails for free for a while to get the practise in or should I still charge ( obviously a low amount) to cover costs for products. This may be all down to my not having confidence but I also want to provide a fair service. hope this makes sense and you have some advice. many thanks xx

I love your energy, its so bright and happy and fun, it always makes me smile I think its because you love what you do, which is great because you are super talented at it I dont really do much with my nails but I want so many of the sets you do, especially this masterpiece Great nails in honor of a great man: )

I love this set, they are amazing. I can just hear the millenials now Who's Ziggy Stardust. So hopefully they'll look him up and get them their youngons listening to some of us old farts good music. Kirsty hun av u ever tried the nail dip kits? I want to know if it would be easier for me cos I can't do acrylic on myself I'm just starting college in sept and can't afford nail salons but feel naked without nice nails Your beautiful by the way, if i was the other way I would Just saying

Its Oh, not Ow: Many years ago, Avril Lavigne presented an award to David Bowie, and she pronounced his last name as b-OW-ie. I remember seeing the pure cringe on my fathers face, too. She was roasted within the music community for years. So, I believe his name is pronounced b-OH-ie.

Hey Kirsty. I have so much trouble trying to find a nail shape that suit my short fat nail beds but I still want to keep them short and practical I tried a square nail and it made them look even fatter and not attractive at all. What can I do?

Beautiful nails. Last time I got my nails done I was yelled at in Cantonese lol. I wish there was someone half as good as you in the US. Its near impossible to find anyone with any real passion or that even enjoys doing nails around here

really nice set, I love a clear tip but not on the nail bed, I don't like tp see my natural nail under a extension. but that my personal reference. beautiful though. where's those liquid one's from Instagram lol.

So cool, my child was watching me paint yesterday and asked me to try lightning nails because I was doing stone art and some of the lines looked like bolts. I'm not a nail tech I just love art and I enjoy the challenge.
