Presented by Grey Goose. Join Rick Martinez in the Bon Apptit Test Kitchen as he makes apple pie. This is Rick's favorite pie recipe, which may have something to do with the butter and vodka crust. Flippin Kamikaze: So I just made this pie this weekend, and holy cow, it's amazing. It's been the talk of the office I noticed that I overworked the crust because it wasn't particularly flaky. I also over-rolled it because it cut in places and spilled out, preventing the crisping of the bottom crust (also, I didn't smush it against the pie plate, so that contributed. Still, the top crust was delectable, the apples (I used honey crisps) were soft but retained some snap when you bit in, and the spice blend. People agree with me when I say it tastes like Autumn. Well done

So I made this pie today: 1. SO FREAKING GOOD2. I unfortunately didnt have vodka but the crust still turned out hella great- also raw pie dough doesnt taste good to me3. I didnt have apple cider but I had orange juice and used orange juice and it seems to bring out apple-y-ness in the pie

Priya, don't feel bad about the butter thing. I never carried it around with me, but I did eat it out of the container with a spoon as a kid. To this day I don't believe it is possible to put too much butter on a roll or on my mashed potatoes.

Where on earth do I find this written recipe? I have looked everywhere using every search engine (yes, even BING: :shudder: :) and I still cannot find the written recipe. Please, someone help me. Before I search using bing again

It's dangerous to eat raw pie dough because raw flour often has salmonella and other bad bacteria in it. People think raw egg is the reason we don't eat raw dough, but it's the raw flour.

As a person who was super weird as a kid (I ate raw biscuit dough and box cake mix) I appreciate Priya's honesty and willingness to laugh at her strangeness and not be ashamed of it.

This recipe is not even available at the Bon appetite website I tried getting a step by step recipe and was only able to find their Apple-Cheddar Pie recipe.

What is the equivalent of apple cider in Germany? When I think of cider, I think of the French low alcohol apple wine. And I don't believe that this is it, right?

I miss my moms apple pie, old fashion let cool by the window sill but eat it before the birds and insects get to it. P. S.: One-Thousandth comment, woohoo

Definitely making this But I think I'll blind bake it first though, it looked like it had a soggy/gummy bottom inside. I love the cornstarch idea: D thanks Rick
