When it comes to classic French eateries in New York City, few are more iconic than SOHO's Balthazar. We sent Alex Delany to this famous brasserie to try one of everything on the breakfast menu, and we didn't send him alone. For this episode, he was joined by French-speaking pastry expert Claire Saffitz to eat way too much food and drink multiple bowls (yes, bowls) of milky coffee. Nani_: Claire and Alex are my favorite and watching this with Alex super power of knowing what will taste good and Claire showing how good she is at frenchI don't eat clams, oysters or mussle but I used to eat mussels with crabs, fish and shrimp

It's nice to see Claire enjoying herself and not getting all stressed out. So, now that Claire's had a break, she should make a Gourmet Hostess Cupcake. The ones that are filled with the peelable icing and the little white design on top.

Lmao the fact that a restaurant in NYC can charge 11 for a cut grapefruit or a bowl of oatmeal is sending meedit: Also just realized they reported the oatmeal price incorrectly as 6 instead of 11 on the little receipt graphic

Claire is so relatable with her french in this episode. I do the same thing with the scientific names of plants as a gardener and I can totally relate how others don't really care about that.

If Waterloo or Trafalgar doesnt amply demonstrate who the clear top dog is between the British and the French, the fact that they are eating a full English in a French restaurant does

The fact that they ate over 40 menu items isnt even whats shocking. did anyone peep the prices? Whos paying 11 for a grapefruit? And 6 for a freaking boiled egg? I JUST WANNA TALK

The white balance is off. It looks like they balanced for the lights in the background rather than the foreground, causing the food to appear slightly discolored.

I feel like they needed a shot at the end of Alex and Claire in bed with the sheets up to their armpits, smoking a cigarette, exhaling with a _sigh of satiated pleasure. _

I feel conflicted because Im impressed that Claire knows a lot of the terms but also cringing because her pronunciation is bad and she got some of them wrong
