I know, I know. You're confused because you thought my favourite was Eton Mess? Well the truth is that I find it very hard to decide what my favourite dessert is but THIS, my friends, is UP THERE It's a real classic and, with a little help from my pal Felicity Cloake, I have got the perfect recipe for Treacle Tart. Recipe - One batch of my Shortcrust Pastry - an egg for the egg wash 140g brown bread crumbs 60g butter 400g Golden Syrup 35g black treacle or molasses 2 tbsp double cream 1 egg + 1 yolk 1 tbsp lemon juice pinch of salt

DO NOT FEED BIRDS BREAD Or anything with yeast in it The yeast causes digestive problems, which can be fatal if they eat a lot of it. Also, bread and everything else made primarily from flour have next to no nutritional value for birds, it just fills them up, so if they don't get problems from the yeast, they will still be malnourished. pet shops might have bird seed for pigeons and waterfowl if you want to feed them something good for them, or give them bits of vegetables (find out online which kinds. Where I live, at least in winter, many supermarkets sell bird seed, because many people hang birdhouses in their yard or garden to help the local birds, or make balls by mixing the seed with lard or suet, which they hang on tree branches (we used to make those in preschool.

ACTUALLY. Don't give your bread to the birds. Bread is REALLY bad for most birds (including and especially ducks) since it totally lacks essential nutrients most birds need and whatever bread doesn't get eaten becomes a breeding ground for bacteria which can affect the surrounding waters and environment. :D

Pretty sure molasses and treacle are fairly similar if not the same thing. I'd assume you could be fairly successful with molasses to make them? I might need to give it a try, I love molasses everything, in Pennsylvania where I grew up we made a pie called shoo-fly that was mostly molasses.

This looks amazing I cant wait to try it I think this recipe might finally inspire me to buy golden syrup (instead of corn syrup. I would really like to see a chocolate chess pie recipe video. I have tried several and they are okay but your recipes are always my favorite

For people in the US, I found golden syrup and black treacle online at the English Tea Store. They have good prices on both and low cost shipping. I havent used the treacle yet, but I used the golden syrup for the Biscoff smores brownies. My coworkers LOVED the brownies

Coming across references to treacle tarts in the Enid Blyton stories as a kid decades ago, I always wondered what a treacle tart would look (and taste) like. From this video, they look (and appear to taste) delicious. The word decadent comes to mind.

So sweet but so delicious. A nice little tip when putting the pastry in the tin, if you take some of the excess and roll it into a ball you can use that to push it right in to make sure you don't end up with thick edges that don't cook properly.

If you live in the Greater Toronto Area (Go Raptors Go) you can find golden syrup at most Bulk Barn. They haven't had it for about a year but it was due to repackaging; it's no longer in a small jar it's in a small green can.

Dear Jemma, I love your videos and recipe but I have one problem. The icing is usually to sweet for me, but whenever I try to reduce the sugar, the icing loses its form. Is there any trick to it? Love from Germany x
